Flatbed company got too big for its britches now plumiting out of control in an downward spiral with major loss of employees in the beginning of the year . From layoffs to terminations . If you have driven or was once an o/o please leave your feelings . Likes /dislikes or general comments. Thanks cactus jack

Westar is an flat bed company out of wichita falls texas right across from the jolly truckstop . I was just seeing if any one would like to share their experiences with the company especially after their major lay offs and thinning of the company earlier this year .

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO REPORT ANY BAD CARRIER OR ANY GOOD CARRIER . I WOULD LIKE THIS PAGE TO BE INFORMATIVE FOR ANY GUEST AND IN THE DAYS TO COME I WILL BE LISTING AN MYRIAD OF COMPANIES THAT I HAVE HAD PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH GOOD BAD AND UGLY. AS WELL AS EXPERIENCES I HAVE OVER 14 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND STARTED TRUCKING BACK IN 1993 IN 1997 I HAD A LITTLE BREAK ........ TO BE CONTINUED

In nov. 1993 i started trucking school in ashville n.c. The school is skyland trucking academy . I graduated and got my cdl on dec 1993 and got hired on with east west inc. They are out of swannanoa n.c. I was trained doing the west coast turnaround running team of course cause i was being trained the right way. Running the gourge is not an easy task even for the most experienced. If you been there you know what i mean. As a team we were turning shakey to n.c. 2 to 2 and a half times a week. We would run out of hours on the third week back then there was no 34 hour restart. So we did it old school..... Started new logs ...mailed em back to an p.o. Box and fixed em up b 4 we got back to the yard to turn em in.......yep old school...hehehehe...cant get r done like that any more. Hell who am i kiddin cant afford to do it anymore. After three months they cut me loose from my trainer and i started doin the turn around alone i could only do 1 and a half trips by myself but at a thousand dollars a round it was good money for that time. I burned my self out by next christmas and went to another company that ran east coast . By the way east west was a great company back then but you run hard a couple times and they would expect it from you ....just like any other company . They did prefer teams for that reason because they could get atleast 2 full trips out of them easily. But teams dont get too excited yet even as an team it only came out to 1000.00 a round but do 2 and yall can get 1000.00 for each member not bad . Not the greatest either ...... To be continued

Then after i left east west inc. I went to sammons trucking for two months wow what an dissapointment they were .....pick up drive 100 miles sit a day deliver .....wait 6 hours p.u. In am drive 200 miles deliver next afternoon... As you can see it was a bunch of b.s.
Next after sammons i went to howard transportation in meridian mississippi . Howard trans. Was an really good trucking out fit if you like flatbed. They make transformers and send them out east of the mississippi river i stayed with them for 6 months and since i loved running east and west i didnt get too excited in running the north back to mississippi then going back north again it got old ... But hell i was young....
Then i made the worst mistake of my driving career ...if not the worst close to it.... I went to j&r schugel..... Enough said ..... It was good for a week then sit and wait..sit and wait... And when it came to getting to hotlanta you could not get out.......summer olympics....enough said ...i stayed at the ta for 5 days no layover pay nothing on the 5th day i turned in my truck...yep i did it right.... I wasted 3 months with them....
After that big mistake i went to an ok trucking company in west liberty iowa named florilli trucking they ran me east , west, north and south. I was doing alot of iowa to shakey shakey to wa. Wa to florida i worked there for 7 months and seen all lower united states in that time. I had a problem with one of their office staff members... Becareful if it is an family buisness ...small company ...do not ever let them in to your buisness its bad practice ...keep to yourself and just drive.
After that i spent a year at r&m trucking out of gretna ne. I dont have anything negative to say about them they were really good as long as you ran and i was/am a runner . I was going from beef plants to shakey . Droppin and hookin and back to lots of diffrent locations . The staff was real down to earth the dispatchers would do anything for ya . If you were an runner. I started out there in an o/o truck that the o/o leased on to them and he sold the truck from underneath me . Well i should be pissed but right b 4 he did that i just got my dac reprt from them and had to let me go anyways because i had three tickets in that year i worked for r&m yeah i had an lead foot.... But i feel much better now....hahahahaha wifes hollarin at me ...i will be back with more if any one cares to read my rants ..hope to help someone out there...cactus jack

I am completely baffled. I think we've signed up for someones entire career in trucking.
What this has to do with the company originally mentioned I just don't know.
