re: CR England Institutes Pay Cuts for IC's

Not only have they cut the deadhead pay to .80 cpm, they're old sliding scale pay rate was .90 - 1.53 per mile, that is now changing to .90 per mile for anything over 500 miles and a mere .95 for anything under 500 miles. On top of that, they have this really fun rewards program (#########) that you USED to be able to buy down your .14 per mile variable mileage rate. Well guess what? that is NO LONGER an option. Your variable mileage rate can not be bought down anymore. This company talks a good game to get you in the door and then they give you a big dry one right in the rear end and arent even considerate enough to give you a reach around. And OFS (Opportunity Financial Services) which is englands business consultant service for I.C.'s, what a joke! They will tell you whatever England PAYS them to tell you in order to make it sound like england is where its happening. Give me a break. England is where its happening allright. What's happening is that they have obviously been hit with the economy like every other business only they have so many I.C.'s that its not a problem for them to take their losses out on the Independent contractors and recoup their economical losses. England in my opionion is the worst possible company you could work or drive for. How many of you reading this know about Pride Trucking? Did you know that the founder of Pride trucking is the Brother of the Englands? The word on the street is that he parted ways with them because he said "They have no Pride on how they run their business" so he started his own company and called it "Pride" trucking. Go Figure. Their own brother doesn't even want to have anything to do with them.

Yes I am with them. For the next week or two. They have told us we have 30 days to sign the new lease contract. I am not signing this #### they are trying to pull. They will just have to cancel my lease. I wonder, this is technically breaking my contract, i know if I was the one to break the contract they would be coming after me for some kind of restitution. I wonder if I should take my current contract to my attorney and see if I can go after them for some restitution. Regardless. I will not be signing any new contract with them. Hell, I can go home and flip burgers and make just as much money as the measley amount I take home each week after they rape my check!

This is probably your best and only viable move based on their getting ready to ram it full speed up your arse. I wish you the best getting work elsewhere.

The thing I am surprised about is that they waited this long to institute these changes. Seems to me they should have done it last winter when things were the toughest.

Personally, If your not going to accept and sign their new lease. I would be giving copies of everything you have from cr england, to your attorney (without thinking twice about it). You should be able to walk away from the lease with no penalties, but you and everyone else knows. This company has proven with past history, it will break you and take any pride you have. Hiring of a attorney may hurt you upfront in the cost, it's the long term that effects your career. Protecting that CDL is what matters the most.

You are not signing a new lease.
The new contract is for the freight hauling only.

It was also said if you did not sign the new contract that it (the freight hauling contract) would be cancelled but the lease would still remain in effect.

Now as for the option to buy down your truck, I asked the question today and was told nothings changed on the rewards program apart from having to get 6.0 paid mpg for the fuel part so the option to buy the variable mileage payment down is still there. (Unless you can show me somewhere it mentions this)

England is not one of the first carries to cut rates like this.
Talk to other drivers, you will see even the union controlled companys are cutting wages to stay in the game.

We might not like whats happing but its the econnomy and just the way things are happening in the freight game.
With all the trucks and companys out there chasing the work customers have the upper hand and are controlling rates.

Do I like it, No, but you got to do what you think is right.
Look at ways to improve your income.
Maybe don't idle so much, run slower, more miles if they are avaliable.
