I have heard a lot of good comments about Schnieder,I also wonder about all of the mt tractors sitting at their terminals.Way too many.I called them a while back and talked to a recruiter about signing on.He really didnt seem too interested in hiring an experienced driver.They seem to be more interested in hiring drivers right out of school.My youngest son drove for them yrs.ago and he has nothing but praise for them.I know another guy who just quit them to drive a beer truck locally,he also has good words for Schneider.My opinion is they are probably the best big trucking co.out there,and especially a good place for a new guy or gal to start off.When I say big I mean JB,Swift,Werner,etc.Just my opinion from talking with Schneider drivers.

If Schneider is smart, it'll see that there is a huge demand for a "good" company that newbies as well as experienced drivers can call home. That demand is huge because of Swift, J.B., England, etc. If Schneider were to fill this demand, that company would probably overtake JerryCo and JB in a few years.

I believe companies benefit somehow from empty cleaned-outs sitting around. We wouldn't be seeing those things sitting around if they didn't benefit. Companies can treat at least some of their drivers like crap, cause those drivers to quit, and then whine about a driver shortage. This whining gets them something, you better believe it. And the empty cleaned-outs are the proof they need to back up that whining.

If companies didn't benefit from their cleaned-outs, they'd treat drivers like they should and those trucks would never be cleaned out in the first place. Those empty trucks sure as hell wouldn't be sitting around eating profits and collecting dust.

How do companies benefit? Probably some sort of tax break from the government. They can point to their empty cleaned-outs, claim they are VICTIMS, and "clean-up" in the form of relief. I'm sure that relief is more than the profits those cleaned-outs would make if they were running on the road.

Also, the empty cleaned-outs probably help big-company cases when they whine to the government about a driver shortage. Ultimately what they want here is for Congress to allow Mexicans to come up and drive their cleaned-outs they supposedly can't keep filled.

Yeah, those empty cleaned-outs are all part of a clever game companies are playing with the government....at least that's my take. Does Schnieder play this game? Maybe. But I think they'd be better off if they didn't play it. They should play the "treat drivers RIGHT" game and those cleaned-outs would disappear from their lots. But as long as the relief the companies get for those cleaned-outs is more than the profits they'd make keeping them on the road, nothing will change. Someone in Congress really needs to stop trucking company abuse of government relief.

If the government cuts the sugar-titty that is this relief, the empty cleaned-outs will pretty much disappear and companies will be FORCED to treat all their drivers well. If they didn't treat them well, they'd go broke fast. Cleaned out trucks sitting on lots eat profits, and it doesn't take many to bring profits to zero given the low profit margins in trucking.

Tip the oc you were at was probably the Seville OC. All the rigs they use for training are parked at the o.c.'s except for the green bay sta has a seperate building. I like schneider when I drove for them, had a good stl and things were good when I was solo. When I was teaming I felt we got jerked around like crazy. They say 90% drop and hook loads. I team drove for them about four weeks. There was one time... one drop and hook. Everyother load was a live unload, then a live load over and over and over. There was times where we sat in Fontana for half a day waiting on a load. I mean come on you got a team sitting for half a day, what a waste of my time and team mem time. Other than that schneider was awesome.

Just got a call from SCI. They want me to go to their school in Dallas. I've got to decide between them and Roehl and Prime in 2-3 weeks. Got my permit already and need to know the best school to go to, preferably one that pays while you train because i've got a family. Any suggestions?

Stay away from prime, the other two are good choises...

How much are they paying you dude????? You have got to be kidding me, the more I read of your post the more I want to throw up! Schneider is totally the most screwed up company I have ever worked for. Everything that "OTRSux" has described is exactly how my husband and I were treated at "Schneider", the only thing he didn't mention was if you needed at least 2 hours of down time to take showers after not being able to in 4 days and the retard of an STL would almost have a cow if you ask her/him, which by the way we went through 2 STL's and their bosses and nothing ever was accomplished. The only thing that came out of our complaining on them was less miles and more down time! Believe me they will always find a way to retaliate against you. And YES they do try and make you "find" a way to run illegally, and like OTRSux said with very little sleep, our truck never stopped except for the stupid maintence appointments, but just because the truck never stopped doesn't mean we were making any money, there were always reasons we weren't paid for this and that. We walked away from their stupid truck too, and never looked back. If they want to sue for the money then have at it, they can't even keep one collection agency, (been through at least 4 now). Their trainer was a moron too. Always wanted to do things his way and not Schneider's way, if they would have seen some of the things he trained us to do they would s%$t. And from some of the stories our class mates had to tell, most of the trainers are alike! So mister "Turbo" dude, unless YOU work for Schneider then you have NO right to tell anyone about them or offer advice. Go to another post where you are wanted:smt076

All the naysayers have the exact problems ATTITUDE.Lets see you were having to wait for loads but the truck ran 24 hrs,excuse me if I cant understand your contradiction but I CANT.I am a hopeful newbie that will probably be going with schneider due to their training program,skid pad,understand student to trainer ratio is low,many great co.benefits that are offered [do the research] or should I say homework. If you are going out as a team driver you are expected to run 24/7 with all companys as this is not a paid vacation but a job.

I have worked for a few a-holes in my life but I was always promoted and actually never had problems with them.People need to realize that they bring on most of the problems themselves by thinking that they know everything or say thats not my job so im not going to do it or think that they are smarter than the management after working their for 2 weeks,LOL, bottom line know whatyou are getting into bite the bullet at times and more than likely you will have a very good relationship with who ever you go with.Of course there will be personality conflicts but handled in a professional manner and these can usually be resolved.

I will be talking to my recruiter tomorrow at 2:00 for my interview and I will be there with bells on,as I cant wait to get going in this truly great profession.Notice I called it a profession not a vacation.

You know, alot has been offered on Schneider, but only a handful of people complain about being shortchanged on pay. Okay...add yours to the short list.

I don't buy this one at all. I know for a fact that Schneider refrains from collecting on unpaid tuition. They write it off, rather than to endure negative remarks from otherwise already dissatisfied drivers.

I'm sorry, but I don't buy this either. Your complaint is extremely isolated. The one thing that comes shining through about that company, is the fact that their training program is far and above most any other out there. Their training staff is well screened, and they monitor everthing.

Excuse me? I must have missed the rule that stated that "you" have any right to dictate to anyone in here, what they can or cannot do, much less have a right to do.

I'm sure that to anyone who reads your response, that any problems that you may have experienced at Schneider, were self-inflicted. Me? I have no doubt whatsoever that this is the case.
