    It may be "Chump Change" to you but I'm talking about coming from making $7.50 per hour and that's a HUGE change for me! And you say that's the problem with the industry today, paying us newbie .28 - .29 cents per mile. Just curious what would your pay rate have to be to keep you happy?

    Bulldog, Thats a big jump in pay, IF you get some miles. Hopefully they will keep you busy. Remember thats only while your rolling, not sitting waiting to get rollin.

    Is it worth not being home for a few weeks. Remember it costs money to be on the road. you still have to eat and shower.

    Food for thought, Hope it all works out your way.

    You'll be lucky if you come anywhere close to equaling the 7.50 per hr. that you are making now. If you were to factor everything in (ie meals, supplies etc..) you'll most likely find it to be less than it is now.

    I started out with 8 months exp at barr-nunn running regional at .35 cents a mile. That .29 cents is not good. How much exp u got?

    I only have 3 months of OTR experience and I am going with Hogan because a friend from church drives for them and he is always talking about how good they are and how well they treat him and coming from CRST this is going to be a good change of scenery... And I still think .29 cpm is good considering I've been working 40 hours a week at a job here at home and also considering I was only paid .11 cpm at CRST as a Team Driver..

    Hubby and I are going to orientation on the 24th of this month. Anybody know if they do any kind of pre screen testing?

    to the person wanting to know how often hogan transport gets to el paso mostly east of mississippi north and south. went to kansas,ne,mn,ok,la,east and cntral tx but never elpaso

    Here’s mine, In the 90’s Hogan was a drivers company. You could run as hard or as little as you wanted to.
    I quit in DEC 09, at that point you had to call in for “permission” to run after midnight. The safety department was going thru witch hunts for crap like running over on the right shoulder then after firing some drivers they would drop the subject totally. You can expect to be tracked spied on and generally nick picked to death.
    Anything you do above the call of duty will be forgotten the next day and will earn you an ### chewing by the safety department the next week. They also have a habit of switching you to a damaged tractor then charging your DAC with the damage.
    Also they are not above trying to intimating you into covering a run on the day you requested off.
    Despite what I just posted they are not much different than any other company their size.

    I just finished Hogan orientation in Bridgeton, MO and got hired. I have been driving big truck for five years. This was my fifth orientation, four as a company driver and one as an owner operator. When people say Hogan is a different company, they are correct. This was by far the most professionally run, and demanding, orientations I've been through. My recruiter was Ben. Your recruiter at Hogan doesn't just feed you a load of junk to get you through the door and you never hear from him again. Your recruiter is probably the most important person during your Hogan orientation and you will talk to him or her daily while going through the process. Ben never lied to me once, before or during orientation. That is a first for me with other recruiters. Your orientation will last the whole week probably. You'll be tested, watch videos, listen to lectures, meet the big brass - Bridgeton is Hogan's HQ, take a road test with two 90 degree backs into a tight whole. You won't be paid for orientation but Hogan paid for our lunch each day. You'll go out and drive the Smith System. You'll have one or two evaluation runs before being issued a truck. You might meet your fleet manager if you are hired by Dedicated Services. I'm working Dollar General and I met my fleet manager the final day - impressive guy. My class started with 21 drivers and I believe 17 or 18 were hired. Was told that was an unusually high percentage of hirees. Most of us got our employee card and number late on Thursday. You are not hired until you have that card! Talk about professional. Hogan issued me work gloves with Hogan on them, they buy you steel toe shoes once a year, provide bottled water during the hot summer months - DG drivers unload our own trailers. When running through St.Louis, just stop at the Bridgeton terminal, pull into the fuel lane, hand your Comdata card and your CDL to the attendant and he will fill up your tanks, top off your fluids, hose down and clean your windshield, and check your tire pressure. You don't even need to get out of the tractor unless you want to.

    I can't tell you what it is like driving for Hogan because I won't get my truck until after my evaluation runs, but if working for them is anything like orientation, I have much to loook forward to.
