When you provide a urine sample, they dip a "stick" that measures the level of sugar in your urine, if any is present. There are color levels that indicate whether or not you have any presense of urine passing through your kidneys. Before sugar spills over into your kidneys, it would have to be above 200, and THAT is a problem. What baffles me, is that the process of the physical requires them to test your blood sugar levels at any time there is any presence of sugar in your urine. Did they reject you on the basis of the urine test, without taking a blood sample to verify your actual blood sugar level? While we are on the subject, any time that you are going to take a physical, it is highly unadviseable to eat processed sugar laden foods within 4 hours of providing a urine sample, such as pancakes or sweet rolls, because a normal person can have problems such as this, and you could actually fail the physical. A diabetic will DEFINITELY fail the test, no matter how many pills you pop to overcome a bad food choice. Protein is the order of the day. |

Re: US Xpress, Inc. - Chattanooga, Tn. yes sir, NO prick in the finger was done on me. And I didnt eat anything ALL day cause i knew this was coming on Monday. What i was told by another Dr, is that when they take a urine test. It shows MORE sugar then a regular blood test does. Oh well No biggie, I guess it wasnt to be. I know one thing i learned at usx orentation, they have the BEST Benifit package that i know of. Just wish i was normal in the BS test. I sure would have liked to prove them other drivers wrong about being so negative about USX's way's. Last edited by CHICKENMAN; 11.24.2006 at 09.10 PM.

Re: US Xpress, Inc. - Chattanooga, Tn. Turbo, you are 100% correct about the urine sugar test. The strip that they dip only shows the presence of sugar in the urine and is a very unreliable gauge of your actual blood sugar levels. I have had 'positive' urine blood sugar tests, and when they test my blood, have shown well within the normal range (80-120 is considered normal). A twice they gave me the glucose test (where you drink the really sweet syrupy stuff and they test your blood more than once to see how your system handles the sugar), and the my sugar never got over 95. Maybe they needed an excuse to 'cut' more people from that orientation because there weren't enough 'real' reasons to cut people, so they had to grasp at straws. From the sounds of it, you may have dodged a bullet Chickenman. Good benefits aren't really worth much if you can't make any money and have to put up with a ton of garbage in the process. I always say that things happen for a reason.

Re: US Xpress, Inc. - Chattanooga, Tn. I live here in US Xpress's back yard, and I won't touch them. I've been there and done that. I found US Xpress to be completely detestable in just about every category. Reading some of the latest, it seems that nothing has changed with that company after all. I had thought that they had settled down a bit, because their reputation was horrible a few years back. Their safety department has a collection of the most paranoid people on the planet, and they absolutely like to make example of people, without any consideration being taken to the facts of a case. Hearing that a small complaint about one's knees, will make them demand a driver to quit, is more of the same kind of crap I witnessed first hand when I dealt with them on a personal level. I know why they did this. Worker's Compensation. They are paranoid about a claim. Half the people on the planet have arthritic symptoms, and considering that about 70% of all drivers in the industry are over the age of 40, it's gonna be real hard to find drivers that don't have some mobility issues, but I wish them luck. Who needs their crappy loads anyway? There are too many companies out here that will not ask a driver to EVER get in the back of the trailer, and they need drivers too. My own experience with that company, for about 90 days after they bought out the company I had trucks leased to, was nothing but a nightmare from the day they walked in, until I ended my association with them. My Attorney had to intervene and threaten them with civil action, which is a long drawn out story, but I'll save it. It involved threats that they lobbed in regard to the way I pulled my trucks from the company, and because I refused to sign a release for damages when one of their own company trucks rear-ended me a few days before I yanked them.

I just finished their new driver orientation and was hired and I have not been placed with a trainer yet. Is this common. I'm tired of sitting around.

Re: US Xpress Unfortunately, it is common to have to wait for a trainer. Most companies have more students than trainers. Plus this is the holiday season, so some trainers maybe looking forward to spending time with their families and not student drivers. Be patient, you will be out on the road soon enough.
