| Its been a few years but I have talked to and met some younger guys that were high school buddies,they left swift and went to us express teaming together and were running plenty of miles from midwest or east coast to west coast. I know they were bragging and really happy working there. I just met a driver that was headed to cleveland from nj,hes been there a year and he said he went there right from school and still likes it. best of luck to you. |

| Pretty common with US Xpress. Unless you go with Dollar General account. That is what I had did and I was pretty much put with a trainer in about a day. I had a very good trainer. I would suggest him to anyone. His name is Dave Burkhart. He is alot of fun to be around. Good luck with US |

| Been driving for U.S. Xpress Enterprises for about a month now. I came here to hopefully find a better company, but U.S. is not it! I know what its like to get miles and good pay, the bad thing about U.S. Xpress is that you are paid on a sliding scale, which pretty much sends your CPM pay right out the window. I've pulled loads for them for 24 cents a mile, which sucks. They also charge 3 cents for per diem, so with per diem you can expect to make 24 cents a mile. My CPM is roughly 40-41 cents. Another thing about the sliding scale is the further you go, the less you make! Strange huh? They also pay by rand mcnally movers guide, which causes me to lose 50-70 miles each ld. (unpaid miles) their web site says they pay "practical" miles, but its movers guide miles. I have experience and am not a new driver. Their equipment is nice, roomy trucks (volvos), but thats because you will not make more than 500 bucks a week (if that) a week. Expect long waits at shipper and receiver, drop and hooks are very rare. You will deal with dispatch more than your fleet manager, its not unlikely to go weeks without even hearing from your so called assigned fleet manager. The dispatch department is poor, they do not talk to each other so you have to explain to them over and over again when you have a question or problem. They only have 2 dispatchers on duty during the night time at one particular facility, makes for even longer waits. I've even been hung up on once or twice when calling for load info. I sent a msg over the qualcomm and asked them to please call me, they wrote back with "Call you for what?" - I thought that was crappy. Orientation in lexington, nc was a nice surprise, had a group of us sitting out in the freezing cold because we were waiting to get processed, they had other classes going on so we had to sit in the cold. The facility was still being built and I guess they had nowhere else to put us. Their slogan is "we care" - should've been a sign to not go with them at that point. They took so long to get everyone processed some of us had to go back to the motel and wait an extra day, extending our total days of orientation without pay! The sign on bonus is broken up you're lucky if you last long enough to get it. By the time I was actually hired and started, and got my first check, they had paid me at the wrong CPM, which made my check even smaller. They had to pay me back pay on my next check. You can expect to stay in Georgia alot or the east mostly. Havent gotten to the west or mid-west yet with this company. Avg miles per day are about 250-300 (if that) and if you dont get a ld before night shift comes in, you might be in trouble if you want a load. Company also uses TripPak and does not pay you until they receive the bills. Not a big deal, alot of companies do that, but U.S. Xpress takes forever to process your bills and get you paid. I pulled 7 loads one week and only got paid for 2-3 on my next weeks check. To sum it up, never go with a company with a sliding scale that pays you less, the further you go. Never let them mess with your base pay! I'm earning close to the top pay here at U.S. Xpress if that tells you anything. The pay is terrible. I made more money at JB Hunt (if that tells you anything, as well) right now I'm waiting to go home to start another company (flat-bed) hopefully these guys will work out. If you're smart, you will not go with U.S. Xpress, I'm not a disgruntled employee, just another driver giving out some advice. I'm an excellent driver, enough experience to get the pay I deserve., you should to! Do your homework. |

| I am another driver (30 years experience now) that was recruited by US Express, drove to Oklahoma, attended orientation and was then told I was to be put on the truck as a trainee, due to lack of experience. The fact that I demonstrated very smooth skills and abilities behind the wheel duing the road test had no effect. The fact that I listed 29 years of experience, complete with addresses and numbers and references, had no effect. I did all of that with the recruiter as well before I drove to Oklahoma. I was told I was hired and my credentials looked great! Like so many other drivers, I was lied to and needless to say, I didn't stay as a trainee. It only cost me $276.00 in expenses to experience US Express and from what I've read, I got out cheap. I do NOT regret this learning experience. Boy, what a really badly operated company it is!

| Yup, I as well experienced US Express. Although I did not experience the training issue you did, I did experience the Not really hired experience. Horrible way to treat people, I seen people crying because they had quit their jobs in belief they was hired. USX does no background checking other then simply running you DAC before you get to orientation. POOR POOR way to treat people. I guess it is a huge tax right off as a loss they can use or something along those lines in why they do such a thing. Besides that and not getting paid for over $2000 in detention time, and other such things in the year I was with them, USX was not that bad to drive for. They did keep me moving most of the time (had to constantly stay on top of them in order to get those miles) |

| 10 years experience before I came here as well. Same awful orientation experience except I came in 1st seat. Currently waiting till 23:00 to pickup a 44 mile load (with 6 hours to get there)and they don't keep me moving very well at all. |

Do you have to sit on that load the entire 6 hours? I believe they would get tired of hearing from me on the phone and eventually get me something else. I can be very annoying, LOL |
| ||||
| yeah, I had to sit on that load. I was pissed. Today, I have a 35 mile run. this is getting ridiculous here. I'm actually considering a JB Hunt/Walmart dedicated now. To make things worse...an old injury is coming back for no reason...Sciatica, can barely walk yesterday and today. |
