This story was relayed to me through my parents. I was about 3 years old at the time of this. We were living in Mobile, Alabama in the mid 80s in a subdivision with maybe 25 houses. A few houses down was a couple my mom and pop were familiar with, who also had a daughter my age. During the summer they would chat while the kids would play in the yard and so on and so forth. A few months later the husband who worked nights came home drunker than a skunk to find himself locked out of the house. He climbed in through a window. Now the circumstances that follow are unclear to my parents but the husband ends up shooting his wife with his shotgun and commits suicide. Daughter goes to live with relatives, life goes on. Weeks after my dad is watching tv in the living room at night, my mom is already asleep. My dad sees who he believes to be my mom walking in the adjacent hallway in her nightgown walking towards the master bedroom. He calls after her saying he thought she was already in bed. She doesn't reply, so my dad goes to the bedroom and finds my mom asleep in bed. He wakes her up and asks what was she doing? My mom has no freaking clue what the hell he was talking about. They chalk it up to her maybe sleep walking. Now keep in mind I'm 3 years old and have no idea about the situation that happened with our neighbors or my parents. My parents say I woke them up in the middle of the night begging them to tell the woman to leave me alone. They said that I kept saying she won't stop looking at me and standing over my bed. Now that's when my dad flips his wig. He was convinced he saw the woman who was murdered walking in our house and believes that she was looking for her daughter when she was in my room. Creepy stuff. I truly believe it. It's hard for a 3 year old to fabricate a vivid lie like that let alone one that coincides the events my father saw.

My Mom bought a house next to my great grandparents, who raised her. Great grandfather was senile, often came over for rides. We would take him out to Splithand where Mom was born. One night he wanted to go to Iowa. Got in the car and waited, insisted we had to go to Iowa that his sister needed him. After a long delay while he waited in the car we finally left for Splithand as usual. After driving around for a while, he realized we weren't on the way to Iowa.

"This isn't the way to Iowa and it's too late anyway."

    We went back home.

The call came that his sister had died while we were out driving around.

Ooh, don't read Communion by Whitley Streiber! It's years later but it'll freak you out even more!

I tell you what, there's something about the south central valley of California. Fresno, Visalia, Gustine, Exeter, etc. and I grew up in Modesto. I have read in this thread about 5 different stories with some element of something I've experienced myself. Plus one more that I don't feel comfortable sharing in a public forum.

People that have never had anything weird happen to you... I don't blame you for not believing it. I only wish that I was still on your side of the road. It can affect your whole life (not always in a bad way), but it sure makes it hard to feel like this life is WYSIWIG and hard to have good relationships with people who don't have any reference for supernatural events and don't think you're telling the truth. Seems like the two groups don't ever get really close because if it's happened to you, you *know.*

I haven't even started CDL school yet, and I've been excited and afraid, but now I'm remembering the spooky ways that the lights would randomly turn on in my car and drain my battery while I was gone... If this stuff follows me into my truck, I don't know if this is all a good idea. Thanks to all who shared personal stories.

Was doing a team charter (Empty Leg luckily), maybe was pushing it a little bit much upon reflection, however it was my turn, the pilot truck stop was ahead with steaming coffee so up the highway I went..

Past the street lamps of the city (vegas) and up and over Apex hill.. then around the corner and we passed the railroad overhead this giant stuffed teddy bear with a red bow tie comes at the windshield - it was huge..

So no black dogs but I turned to my teamer and said "unless the sight of stuffed bears in bow ties is normal then I think you should drive"

Still picture this dammed bear like it was yesterday!

First time seeing something odd was back when I was 12 or 13. I used to spend my summers in the truck with my dad. The route we were taking on this one haul took us through a small town with an old hotel (like late 1800's old) on the side of the highway. It's early morning and he swears he sees a woman standing at one of the top floor windows in one of those old fancy dresses. I was half asleep at the time and did not see it. A few other drivers have claimed to have seen it at different times. Another weird experience I had was a couple years back. I was on Highway 5 south of Valemount BC. I came across a motorcycle crash literally a minute after it happened. It was in a construction zone and there was already several construction workers climbing down over the bank trying to help the biker so I assisted in helping keep people clear as much as possible. Unfortunately they didn't make it as there was a large cross sitting there the next week. Now anytime I pass through there I get a really weird feeling like there is someone else in the truck with me. Really creepy.

Not a ghost story per se but I just remembered it after I posted the last one. I was like 7 or 8 at the time and we had a young hound dog who liked to wander off after scents all the time. My best friend and I were eating a snack in the kitchen when I look out the window and see the dog dragging what looked like an old, black ball across the lawn. We both go outside to see what she had found. As we got closer we could see it's been burned pretty bad, then we see the hair. We both run to get my mom because we have no idea what the hell to do. My mom thinks we're screwing with her and reluctantly comes to the front yard. She stops dead in shock when she see's it. My friend and I think we should call the police. My mom decides to flip it over and we see half a charred maniquin face staring back at us. Scarred the c##p out of all 3 of us.
