Yeah I remember that well, rattled my house from about 6 miles away. Nothing left of the site anymore, just houses and strip malls now.

Cadavers for medical research, sometimes whole bodies, other times just various parts.
    Coffins (unused) and occupied.
Once brought cremated remains to a cemetery.

The bad part was no reefer and I also carried food deliveries for restaurants at the same time (LTL). MISC (31).jpg

    That is so uncool.
Imagine dropping the wrong package , the burger flipper opening what he thinks is a new box of fries to drop in the cooker.

We owned a little hotshot a while back & we hauled an engine from a u-boat from a navel base in Corpus Christi (I think).

We hauled a full size flight simulator screen from NC to Kansas I believe. When I say full size, it was like 9 ft high & was about 20 ft wide. It was kinda curved so you could sit in it & be kinda inside it. They told us when we delivered it, the reason they needed a new one was because someone has put their foot through the other one. They claimed they had a huge investigation into who put their foot through it but never found out who it was. They waited several months to have this new one made.

I hauled one piece of pipe from Vidalia, La to Houston, TX. Yep one piece of pipe.... about 18" long. I never did figure out why they couldn't get it in Houston. I mean after all, besides Pa, Houston has more pipe than anywhere. One piece of standard steel pipe. Nothing special, just pipe. I picked it up with one hand, put it in the bed of the one ton & away I went. Nothing on the trailer at all. Only thing I can figure is, it had to do with some contract somehow. Possibly with spending the last of some contract money or something. You just never know.

Parts from a plain crash and truck hauling them from a scrap yard. Load was for FAA. origional driver was arrested as he thought he would stop by scrap yard to sell some of the load.

Back when I was a young lad of 16, I worked at a truck wash just off the interstate for a whopping $2.50 a truck. This OTR fella comes in pulling a grain trailer. Nice guy. Very talkative. He was proud of the load he was "hauling for the government" and takes me around to the back of the trailer to show me what was inside. Missiles. The kind they would put on jets. I thought it was strange that the govt would use an ordinary truck for that.

    Next up.....same job....

A box truck pulling an enclosed trailer. Placards all over this effing thing. I asked the ol boy what the hell was in his truck and he said "dynamite up front. Nitro in the back". Needless to say, I gently washed that truck.

I always made #### sure the right box went to the right place, just for that reason (it never happened).
