I dislike Newark, NJ above all northeastern places.

The northeast corridor is my least favorite area to drive. Out of 48 states and Canada New York city is the one place I hate to go. The I-70 west of Denver, Colorado is the worst mountain pass I've ever been on. I can't imagine driving it when it's icy. I probably don't have a favorite state. Each has it's own pluses and minuses.

Ray, I hear ya on that I-70. I used to live up in Summit County just west of the Eisenhower tunnel. Pretty much 8 months of winter up there. Always felt bad for the haz-mat drivers that had to bypass the tunnel via Loveland Pass. One time I was headed east toward Denver, came around a turn at Georgetown and a guy was going 15 mph hauling hay bales. Luckily no one was on my left...I had about 2 seconds to react there.

I think that stretch of road has accidents every year. I remember the time I was coming around one of the numerous blind corners and there was a big boulder lying in the middle of the road. I'm not sure how I missed it.

Every year? More like every month. I've seen a lot of accidents there attributed to falling boulders. There's also at least two drivers killed their every year driving tankers through Loveland Pass. I came through there one time and I was westbound almost to Silverthorne (summer) and there was a car upside down and flat as a pancake. I thought to myself, "This is an odd spot to crash, never seen anyone crash here." I found out later some lady drove up to the ranch that borders that stretch of road and killed herself by driving over the cliff.

As for my close call, I took my eyes off the road for one split second to change the radio station. Now whenever I drive through there I shut off anything that might distract me until I get down the range and into the foothills.

As a Michigan resident, I will be the first to say the roads here are terrible. If you take 75 North into Detroit, you and your truck will never be the same.

AZ is nice but the Phoenix Metro traffic is insane. I love running 40 through Texas... probably the easiest driving you'll ever do. Gotta love a state with an 80mph speed limit. :biggrin_25514:
