Hey. I'm new here. I thought I had just secured a trucking job with JB Hunt....here's what happened.

I interviewed for a local position with them. I had been working for the city, driving dump trucks and 18 wheelers with 40 foot trailers. I ended up getting passed over for the job. I found out that it was because my recruiter got a number wrong in my zip code, so I can't re-interview for that position for SIX MONTHS. Then, another job passed me over because since I was working for the city (a government agency), we weren't required to have DOT cards, so it looked like I didn't have to have a CDL for the job, and HR wouldn't disclose the equipment we operated (against policy, apparently)

Since the city did that to me, I decided that I needed to get out of there as quickly as possible I needed actual DOT experience, and I have a family that requires my presence everyday, so I called JB hunt back and got on their regional/intermodal account. THey said they could work with the DOT thing with my old job. Then, there was a family emergency and I may have to move to Austin, so I called my recruiter and asked about anything in or near Austin, regional or local. They have 2 different local positions in Hutto (class B). I asked about them and she said they didn't have anything.

Just a minute ago, they called me (Orientation starts Monday. Today was my last day at work) telling me that they couldn't verify my experience, so my orientation had been postponed.

Is this normal? I could be jobless now! I left a job where I made great friends for THIS? Can they even do this??!?! HELP!!!

Whats going on is JB hasn't got ahold of all your past employers. Some are taking their sweet time faxing jb the required info.Sit tight as long as everything is true to your knowledge, you'll hear back from jb.Probably get rescheduled for the next orientation after this one.But it could also be the ppl at JB are scatterbrained. Why JB there are far better companies that'll fit your needs.

There's almost nothing going on around here in the way of trucking. I'd like to be local somewhere.

JB Hunt claims they can get me home 4+ nights a week with their Haslet Intermodal route. I hope they're not lying. I'm on the fence about it anyway.

THey talked to my boss like a week ago. I don't know why they're having to do it again. It's weird. Anyway, I'm working on getting my hazmat and tanker so I can maybe get another job before I'm set to leave? (JB Hunt just called me to tell me they need more info, and scheduled me for the next Orientation class. Guess I get a week of vacation then. :/ )

Like the other poster said can take time to verify employment with the companies you work for. My company had a field day with my stuff as two companies were out of business and the other one wouldn't verify so do what i did and see if they will let you fax them a copy of your w2 if needed. Will speed up the process

Hopefully they're not lying but if they are they are unless you decide to go elsewhere.I learned long ago never to get my hopes up and never trust what companies say.JB is one of the more aggressive companies and will say what the driver wants to hear so they come drive for them and the recruiter gets that commission.

    Ah. thanks guys.

Honestly, I'm dreading doing this anyway. I think I'll take this week to get all of my endorsements and try to get hired somewhere local.
