Ever run into fake military veterans in their travels, better yet call them out?

    Before I start, Let me say I respect all veterans who served honorably and I served honorably myself.

    I can't count the number of "Navy Seals" and "Airborne Ranger/Special Forces" I've ran into out here in the past 12 years.

    I served myself in the Army, but never saw combat. Lived the easy life in Germany.

    While I don't know much about Ranger school and even less about Navy Seal training, I know there can't be that many of them out here driving big trucks, yet I seem to ran into at least 1 every few weeks.

    I have never called anyone out, but what raises suspicion is when a total stranger starts talking about and bragging about their service out of nowhere, and that's ALL they want to talk about. Almost like an in your face attitude. Most of my friends who are veterans do not go around bragging just because we served.

    I am just wondering if anyone out there has called someone out for stolen valor? One guy I ran into a few weeks ago raised some serious red flags...and just would not shut up about all the Combat missions he fought in a a Marine.

    I was always under the impression that most who actually saw combat choose not to get into details, even when you pry at them. This guy just would not shut up.

    As a former Marine, (non-combat,) it's EASY for me to spot impostors. There are certain questions that can be asked and if they cannot answer them, well then you guessed it, they are an impostor. A ran into a guy once whom I had my doubts about but I didn't push him on it for several reasons. Every time I'm in an airport and see a Marine in uniform I am checking his uniform out up and down. I have yet to see an impostor in uniform but when one appears, I'm sure there will be another former Marine that jumps him/her before I do.

    What gets me is these guys that are in their 20's, go out dressed in public as an E-8 or O-6, Stacked with more ribbons than Audie Murphy, Patton, Schwarkopf combined.

    And a uniform completely out of regs that is jacked the f#$% up, that screams "I'm an imposter!".

    Look up stolen valor on youtube, it doesn't happen often to that extreme, but often enough. :smt078

    I've ran into so many guys that, when in Vietnam, were either snipers or ran black ops for the CIA, that I wonder if they had any regular soldiers over there.

    I've met many (out there) who were more (supposedly from listening to them) than a mere paratroop in the 82nd Airborne-as a tatt stating as much is on my left forearm saying as much-however....last Summer I was accused in Big Spring,NE of having that tattoo put on to deceive people as-now I'm 285lbs 34 years later...and he didn't believe I was ever Airborne..!! LOL That was the hardest I laughed in years..luckily for me he didn't "beat me up"..:)

    Navy, Aviation Ordnance/F-18, Desert Shield (not Storm) vet myself. I still don't get why people lie about this. But yeah, it's easy to spot. This thread is hilarious.

    thank you to the vets EVERYWHERE. I don't care if it's a "boot" home from leave from boot camp, to an old guy at Wally World with a ball cap on showing where he served. I make it a point to say thank you.
