You went right by my home when you passed Woodland, WA. The whole west is beautiful, but the NW is even better.

Camping at Newell's in Newton, KS. I hope today is not any indication of how the rest of the week will go. Left the yard at 2:30 am, headed to Chanute. Managed to get 18 miles when Bambi decided to commit suicide by big truck. The deer ran from the right ditch no more than 50 ft in front of me. I hit it with the steel bumper dead center. Thought it was going under truck, but seen it go airborne off to the left. Stopped, raised hood, inspected for damage. I could hardly tell that I had hit anything. Whew!!!
Next, arrived at Chanute to find the other 4 drivers waiting to be loaded. Normally they will load any time after midnight. However not today. I didn't get loaded until 6:30 and was to be in Winfield at 7am. Winfield is only 2 hrs away. So needless to say I was late. Oh and the loader, sucked my tarp down on the front of my trailer. So I had to loosen it and when I did, kiln dust rolled out the back, over the sides. What a mess I ended up with. I wasn't the only one. Another seasoned vet driver would up with a worse mess then me. This stuff gets on you and doesn't let go.
After dumping at the site, It took over an hour to clean the trailer out. The stuff loaded different this morning. Usually it loads more to the rear. Today, it was front heavy. I ran my vibrator until it quit due to no air pressure. Done that twice to try and shake the dust loose. Had to shovel and sweep a bunch of it out.
Next had to load rock at Severy to deliver to Kingman. Loading went smooth and quick. However when I was backing to dump at the construction site, the gravel we were driving on was very loose. I managed to pick a real loose area, and my truck got stuck while I was backing up. I had to be pulled out by a dozer. Finally got my rock off, and was told to head back to Lebo to load in the morning. Well, I didn't have enough of my 14 left, thanks to Ash Grove (Chanute), so here I sit at Newell's. Oh well at least they have good free Wi-Fi and showers. I needed one bad!! I looked like I had a flour bin explode on me..

At a service plaza along the IN turnpike just 90 miles south east of Chicago. I decided to take an 8-10 and tackle Chicago at a good time instead of during rush hour.

Eaton, after what you went through yesterday, today can only get better, right? Glad to know they had showers at Newell's. If it was as hot there as it was here, you had to be miserable.

I fueled there today, I mean yesterday, Monday, at 19:45 eastern standard time. Were you there then? That place was full! I am in ID now. Drove through a lot of rain today and I guess there will be more rain tomorrow...
