..the 2nd time out with this ###wipe and I went into the admin office.
I told them to either find me a trainer that wasnt all hopped up and pi$$ed off at the world or I wanted my deposit back and they could kiss the old brown star for the rest of the money.

So they set me up with the 'mechanic' we shall say. Talk about laid back.
It was like a complete 360 degree turnaround. Almost too laid back.
But from them on, things worked out ok for me..I learned what I needed to and I passed my road test.

..I still hear about some trainers SCREAMING at students. One of the top CDL schools in IL caught a trainer doing that to a student and they fired him. The only time SCREAMING is appropriate is WHEN it's appropriate

..not as a teaching technique...

 

exactly, the only time I may yell is STOP, n then its cause i see you are going to hit something you may not have seen

 

You must be at home,hope all is well with you. I am sitting in Shrevport right now. Most trainers are fine, My only bad experience was the one that ate sardines in the truck and threw the wrappers in the trash. His cab smelt like the Ellewood bathrooms haha,

 

Aren't trainers suppossed to yell and only when you don't drive as well as they do? That was how I was trained, I didn't start at Roehl. My trainer didn't want me to use the brakes or jake going through the Cumberlands on I-75.

I use a plastic clipboard that opens. Inside I keep my logbook, ruler, calculator, whiteout and trip report pad. I use a 9x13 white envelope for each trip. Inside I keep the trip report, bills and receipts for that particular load. I also prefer a steno pad for my load information rather than the little trip books. It gives me more room to write and make notes. Just what one particular experienced driver does.

 

Sorry about the Ellenwood bathrooms. I was there two years ago after having the 2 for $2.00 jalapeno & cheese hot dogs at the Pilot. I was hoping the air quality would have returned to normal by now.
Just got home yesterday morning after a 3500 mile in 12 days out tour. I might have to change the sticker on the back of the trailers to (get home less take home less).
How is life in the O/O world? Did you get your APU installed? (be sure to have your idle reset to turn the engine off after 5 min.) So you can have that extra little frustration to deal with.

Did Roehl ever go to paperless logging? I know they were trying it out on a few drivers when we were there. That was a year ago. I was wondering if they ever changed over and if they did how's it going for the drivers.

 

No paperless logs yet. And I hope never.
