But yea i know its not very good cpm.HEAVY DUDE Thanks this. -
do lease operators get the same random trips as company drivers? or do they get longer trips at all?
-
Not trying to hijack your thread. But I spoke with a recruiter today about leasing, and he said I need to be a company driver for them for at least 6 months before I can lease.
Do you or does anyone know if there is truth in that statement. I don't mind 6 months, but would rather lease right away. I have my CDL already and have over 6 months experience. -
They told me 6 months as well so that is likely the story.
-
Yes must be a company driver atleast 6 months. With no tickets or violations during that time

Your friend's pay stubs are not telling you much. Is he showing you all his expenses too ?
-
What does Rohel pay for? Fuel taxes, 2290, tag and permits? Who pays for tires, repairs, truck service, ect? Bobtail ins, cargo ins, liability ins? Any fuel discounts, what is the amount of fuel surcharge you get? Are you charged for Quallcom useage?
These items add up, and are important. The pay is 1990's rates, and can only be made up by what they are willing to pay as far as the above items are concerned.
Fuel is over $3.00 a gallon now, and going up. 6 MPG with fuel at $3.00 per gallon is 50 cents per mile right there. You need a hefty fuel surchage, and very few deadhead miles to offset that. Most companies don't pay surcharge on D/H miles, do they?
Add up every expense and divide it by 2000, which is a good start as far as miles per week. This will get you a close start on fixed expenses. Remember, you are also paying for your health insurance, your vacation, holiday, and sick pay. You are also paying 100% of all payroll taxes, unlike a company driver.Rotten and bucksandducks Thank this. -
here is something else to think about, a friend of mine is a o/o for roehl and with in the first month he had replaced a starter on the apu about 800 dollars at dealer and a new radiater for the trk. no warranty on starter or radiater, just on drive train !!
The best roehl would do was loan him the money to get trk repaired. that's about
3000.00 on top of everything else he is paying ! So check that 07 over with a fine tooth comb and ask all kinds of question's about what is covered and what is not.
Remember Dan is your best friend now, but what happen's after you sign ????? -
I'm curious to see how this plays out as well.....keep us updated.
