Well this is the first Ive heard of this, currently 7/4 7/3 both trk's have apu's do to my sleep apnea. which require's me to use the inverter to power the sleep apnea machine to get my mandatory 4hr's and since I wear my mask all nite I average about
6.50 to 7.50 hr's of sleep. So I hope the genious at Team Roehl thought about every scenario!

My first reaction was a good belly laugh at the absurdity of the situation you face childer....

Followed by a real scary thought ... you are not 100% in charge of the truck you are driving 100% of the time.

I guess you have a 1 in 3 chance of surviving your next trip out...

Suggest you look into a battery back up

    good luck :)

yeah i have a feeling the battery back up on CPAPs will end up being mandatory at some point with all the systems going to this to help save the planet (pffft)

when did this happen? i havent noticed anything, i hope they dont mind me being late if they do this without telling me and my alarm doesnt go off. what the hell are we supposed to do on the days we may sit at a shipper for 6 hours,or on a reset?

wont everyone just buy the stupid cheap inverters for the outlets? isnt that more dangerous than using the one they have from the apu?

I didn't even think about that when I read this. that's a scary thought. Makes me want to check with some of my contacts to see if there are some that are fighting back on this. I can't ever recall sending someone to the shop because their APU inverter wasn't working.

I know that my truck the heat will also shut off after 12 hours, the apu goes into null mode. I love this when you park somewhere cold. You wake up in the middle of the night and it is 30 degrees in the truck, and the newer style bunk heaters don't put out near as much heat as the older ones did. As far as the inverter goes, go get a cheap one that plugs into the 12v, and run what you can off from that, I know for one I am really getting sick of big brother being in the truck with me 24/7. The worst part about it is all the fleets are doing this crap. It is all about the money on there bottom line, they have some idea that there is a limitless pool of drivers to draw from, so they don't have to worry if drivers are happy or not. I am begining to belive that some of these companies have figured out how to make a profit on turnover...

I can assure you that there is concern about the impending driver shortage that is going to be coming up when all the baby boomers start to retire. They had some training at work about what fleet managers can do to keep drivers on board. As far as I can tell the biggest issues weren't with the relationships between drivers and FM but with the constant change of standards with no explanation.

Ok, so I checked it out the 2 hour limit thing is true for new trucks. Doesn't sound like they are changing the old trucks.....yet. Best of luck to ya. If you are in this situation best to do is let your FM know you aren't happy. Maybe drop a hint or two to the maintenance staff also. Might not get anywhere but it's worth a shot.
