I applied at ROEHL and waiting for the background checks to go. Fresh out of school and I KNOW that I have sleep apnea. I wear a CPAP everynight. If it's a known issue but is being treated, will I still get the runaround?

I'm no expert but my guess is that since you are having it treated with the machine you should be ok.
Zoo Man Thanks this. -

Doesn't sleep apnea fall under the ADA? Which means that not only can they not discriminate against you, they have to make reasonable accommodation.
-
Preacher Man you would think that it would be covered by the ADA. It also seems to me that there is at least one poster posing as a driver that really work's in the office and only posts during the hrs of 7:00 to 1700.
-
no there is a poster who was a driver and a trainer then moved into recruiting and posted it on here when the move was made, but still posts to help new guys and stop misinformation... ... not that I think he is talking about me...

One of the things I like about being an o/o is that I get to choose who does my physical. I'm able to use my regular physician who isn't just committed to giving me a med card, he's interested in keeping me healthy. I feel a lot better carrying a med. card knowing I've had a real physical, by a real doctor. We've talked about apnea, turns out he's normal build and has it, I'm overweight and have no symptoms of it.
It will be interesting to see what happens with apnea and the fmcsa. We are a long ways away from testing being mandated by the government. -
