Don't go you won't get the miles. I still work for them but will be leaving soon. I am sitting waiting on a load which I have been doing for two days. They keep hiring but have no loads. Makes since huh. They are going to tell you everything you want to hear to get you in.

I wouldn't put to much weight on just one persons negitive opinion. I'm a flatbedder, 6 months with Roehl now and miles average out pretty good. Of course sometimes you wait to load or unload, That's the business! Overall, I would rate Roehl as a good place to start out and maybe continue.

I got 3550 miles last week in Van National. Usually average 2400-2800 a week. You just need to know how to "push" you loads and communicate well with your FM. If I'm not under a load, I contact Roehl every hour by QC or phone to be sure they are finding me something. Some drivers just sit and stare at their QC waiting for a load. Whille they're doing that, the planners are finding me a load because they don't want to hear me asking about one every hour. I'm not saying be annoying, but you have to look out for yourself. I'm never angry or mean with anyone about getting me a load, I just ask politly and persistantly. I get plenty of miles. It's just about how you approach the job.

I went through their school a few years ago. They were the only school I checked out as they were close to home at the time, so can't compare to anyone else. Had 4 of us in the class. They teach it by the book, so there are a lot of things you will never do once you are in your own truck. Like double clutching. I logged 600 miles in the truck in the three weeks and passed the road test with flying colors. Pretty good since I had never even backed up a boat before starting school. Drove for a year to pay off the school then switched to a local job.

My average miles on National flats for the past 10 weeks is 1963 miles, been home minimal amount in that time, No lates no damages, no tix no accidents, not whining to FM about routes or loads. Miles were good till I had 9 months in with Roehl and then they fell off big time, once I got close to a year with them I started sitting 1 to 2 days a week.
