Prostar climate control issues

go into the sleeper and turn the knob all the way to heat, then go into the cab and turn that knob all the way to heat, then on the dash set the sleep temp all the way to heat. I drove for Knight and in the ProStar i had, i could set the cab to one temp and the sleeper to another, but the issues started when ever i would adjust the sleeper temp from the cab, it would randomly revert back to what the knob was set to.

so if the knob was set to cool/cold and i set it to heat from the cab, it would randomly go back to cool/cold while i was back there sleep, or vise versa.

now if you're truck doesn't have that type of set up then i don't know what to tell ya, just figured i'd throw that out there.

 

If it's like my Cascadia, the heat side of the EPU works like the Wabasto heaters we used to have. The diesel fuel might not be primed to the heater. Sometimes cycling the heater a few times can get it working. Turn it off, wait a minute or so, turn it back on,, repeat a few times. I had to do this and I finally got heat. It takes a few minutes to warm up, unlike the Wabasto heaters, but eventually you should get something. If not, put a service call in now, before it gets so cold you need to idle the truck to stay warm, or you turn into a Popsicle.

 

oh, never mind my post, didn't know we were talkin about an aux climate control unit..

 

are you sure heater side is not a diesel drip unit like the wabasto? a battery powered heater would take a lot of power.

 

I would out in in for service or at least call maint. For suggestions, it's going to be getting cold soon, better safe than frozen.

 

If it's like my 2010, turn the key to the on position, not accessory, turn the front heater fan on and turn the knob to the heat side. Now turn the key to off or accessory. That way you get heat up front if you want it.
Turn your bunk heater on. The bunk air won't feel warm, but it should keep the truck warm. Mine blows about 80 degree air, which feels cool to my hand but keeps me warm even on 19 below windy nights.
AND go outside and see if you Webasto is running.

It's good on the burner if you shut it off from the bunk and let it cycle down before you start the truck. Starting the truck kills the power to the burner and it doesn't get a chance to shut down properly. But when the low battery buzzer comes on and you're watching tv, I give you permission to jump up and start the motor.

 

I had the same problem. All I did was turn on my heater for 1 hour, it was blowing cold air. So I turned it off. Waited about 30 minutes then turned it back on, bingo, after about 15 minutes it was blowing hot air.

One cool thing about the system in the prostars is being able to control how hot it gets. My Columbia just had an on/off dial for the heater. Ot was either off or hot as hell. So at least now I can make it comfortable.

My heater in my prostar takes a while to heat also. Something like 15-20 mins unless i preheat the bunk. Also the epu A/C quite this summer no cold no hot. The element in the box burned up. You may have too take it too international like i did for warranty repair. Call mait and go thru there have you done this dance. Then go to dealer. Also look under the bunk to see if the blend door is moving, and is there any heat coming out of the tube on the outside passenger side rear of the truck. Metal tube looks like a drain tube
