I think what they're trying to do law wise is having physicians approved or certified for cpap tests that also aren't tied to a company. Roehl can say hey go to our doc not yours so we can get the results we want in which is yes u need it when in fact you don't. My friend went through this same thing. Other companies pay for the machine and like other poster said you can get better more comfortable equipment that is if you have it being properly diagnosed. My pops has it and likes it says he sleeps better and all that. Roehl pops the question to me ill probably move on.
The Ugly Truth about Roehls cpap testing.

I am sitting home because of the sleep test, lucky for us my wife works for the state so insurance pays for everything. How you can get a cpap without an actual sleep study is beyond me. How do they know what to set the machine for. My wife has severe apnea and I have mild but my cpap is set for higher airflow then hers. Something sounds fishy to me.

As usual follow the money.

OOIDA can fight the DOT from making it a requirement industry wide but they can't fight the companies.
Companies are allowed to set whatever medical criteria they want as long as it doesn't fall below the standards set by the DOT. They also have to evenly apply their standards to all applicants.
as far as the tests, I'd be suspect of any company that told you couldn't use another sleep lab for a second opinion.
brass tacks is you jump their hoops if you want to be hired.
I see three options. 1. Accept it. 2. Accept it and get a 2nd opinion. 3. Choose not to work there.skyviper73 and The Challenger Thank this. -
I was already diagnosed with sleep apnea while on Active Duty so all I have to do is show them the data signed by my specialist, who I go see every year, and they sign me off for a 1 year card. The part I don't like is Roehl wants 1 year of data. I won't say how months I showed the DOT doctor but I think that is ridiculous. If the DOT doctor says I am good to go that should be the end of the conversation. Believe me those doctors definetly went off what my specialst wrote. Then again they thanked me for bringing it in because it made it easier for them to sign me off.

Not to be disrespectful or anything like that...but what is the starting number are they looking for when they measure someone's neck size for cpap testing ??
