bad brad and chevrolet: you're best bet is to contact Kim at Roehl Recruitment. She can answer all the questions you have. I'd think you wouldn't have to go get a WI cdl, more like you'd just go through the 8 day course, but if you've been out too long then you may have to do the school again but skip the WI testing. Just take the one the school has at the end, which mirrors the state one, then get on track with the rest of everyone here by going with trainers then on your own. Like I said though, get with Kim Calhoun, she's got more knowledge on all the ins and outs.

    bad brad Thanks this.

I had a refresher student. he told me he had been out a few years due to an ailing family member. he had to go thru the school and training week....he said all the big companies require it..its not a Roehl thing.

This is the way it was explained to me.

There was a guy from S Carolina that failed his backing exam with the State of WI examiner. By WI law he would have to wait 14 days to re-test because his CDL permit was from out of state. The work around was to have the student obtain a WI CDL permit, then the student could re-test the following week.

So, if you have a CDL permit from another state and you fail any part of the CDL exam, whether it be the pre-trip, backing or road test you will have to wait two week before you can re-test. Or, you can obtain a WI CDL permit.

For those of you that are already CDL-A licensed, this situation does not apply to you.

We took our tests today and it was explained to us by the examiners this way: if you're from out of state, and fail, you can have the option to obtain your WI cdl permit. However, your 2 week (14 day) wait period starts from the day you have the WI cdl permit in hand. Not from the day you fail the test. So theoretically, if you don't get your permit right away it could take longer than 2 weeks.

Yes sir, all 5 of us sure did! It sucked for me, I was the last to go. We had two examiners, and my truck had 3 people. Sitting around all day watching the videos that Kevin could conjure up from the training archives almost had me asleep lol We've got 3 guys going van/reefer and myself and another guy are going flats. So you may see or even get a couple of our guys. 2 more days of "training", orientation Friday, on to Gary for the weekend load securement class and then on home to kiss the dog and pet the ol lady lol Should find out who my trainer is before I leave here, but if not oh well I'll get the call next week.
