Thats only if you have a CDL already though. If you need to go through the school, you're headed to Wisconsin.

That's where I'm at right now, and though I have nothing really to compare it to, my instructor has been excellent. Very good at explaining what needs to happen, very patient, helps you a little, but lets you figure it out yourself. If something new comes up, he will give the info you need to begin, he will demonstrate it, and let you have at it, helping you as you need it. I went from never sitting in a truck 3 days ago, to driving around the city here today, truck and 53' trailer, and being confident enough with the vehicle controls to not make a mess of it, or hit anything/anyone.

thing to remember is just to relax. if you do that, you should be fine. Roehl wants you to go through their doctor through compcare if you go with them(paid by them). good luck.

I just verified with dispatch that we train new drivers at pretty much all of our terminals. That means depending on openings Ellenwood would be possible for prospective drivers in the Southeast.

If you are a company driver you will have to have your physicals done by their doctor. They have places near all of their terminals, so if after you have your own truck your physical comes up they will route you through a terminal to get your physical done.

Well i think im gonna get one here to make sure i can drive a truck first i have pectus excavatum my chest carledge basically goes in. I mean its mostly cosmetic and i dont have but 50% lunh capacity but im very active and can run so it doesnt really affect me, that way if i fail i fan get corrective surgery with that being said. Truck driving is something ive always wanted to do and would pretty much be a dream job.

The DOT physical is pretty straightforward. Since you are new they may do some type of physical fitness for the job. The DOT physical consists of a standard questionnaire, hearing, vision, blood pressure, the "turn your head and cough," maybe running in place and then a check of your pulse and lung sounds. That is pretty much the DOT physical. If your b.m.i. is high and you say anything about waking up tired, or trouble sleeping at night they may want to do a sleep study.

A fitness test will include some form of climbing steps, hand cranking ability, ability to carry weight over a distance, lift weight over your head, etc. They are various activities that you could be required to do as a driver.

Yes. They train new drivers fresh out of school out of any terminal, if you need to go to the cdl school to get your class A, you are going to Wisconsin. I would have much rather drove to Gary to get my CDL.

You can argue with me, but consider I have been with Roehl for over 5 years. I have been to all of the eastern terminals. I have seen with my own eyes the training going on and it is the training necessary for a driver to get a CDL. They are doing classroom work and yard training. Openings have something to do with where you will get trained as well. The reason you go to school is to get a CDL, after that there really is no reason for classroom work, or yard work. As I said I also checked with dispatch as well and they are in Marshfield, aka "The Mother Ship." A company as large as Roehl would need a much larger school in Marshfield than they have if they did all their training there.

Ethier way is fine ive never been out that far west it would be cool to see it, on another note. I know well at lleast they advertise if you live close enough to a terminal you can get 7 on 7 off, my question is that would still be otr? And another straight out of school would it be better to go otr or regional? And ive heard regional you basically live out of a day cab so if technically you can get 7 on 3 off wouldnt it be better to do otr?
