I used to have a device that plugs into the cig lighter outlet & had steel coil end, that you would put in a cup of water. it would boil in about 5 min, then I would put a folgers single tea bag type coffe in it & brew until desired strength.

I 2nd the french press, IMO, the single best way to make coffee. You could also get a 12v water heater and check out some of the instants. Starbucks makes some really good ones, and there a quite a few other quality ones as well...

I just make a pot of coffee with my coffee maker. It plugs into the inverter, I cook and eat everything inside of the truck. Roehl doesn't pay you enough to eat out every day. Plus its way better for you.

I use one of them 12 volt lunch box ovens and a slow cooker to heat all my meals in the truck. I also use a 12 volt hot pot to heat water for coffee, (I use instant when I forget to fill my thermos at a truck stop). My wife prepares all my meals and freezes them in the aluminum tins for the lunch box cooker. All of my breakfast foods are prepared at home and sealed in vacuum bags, then I put them in the slow cooker and pour Hot water from the hot pot over them and let them warm up. The system works very well and saves me a ton of cash on the road. I have lost 22 lbs since the beginning of the year on this system.

This is a good method of saving money and eating healthy. so you actually vacuum seal your food? do you recommend a certain brand of lunchbox cooker or cooler? I'll be a new driver in a few weeks, I've been browsing the threads to get an idea of the most efficient and cost effective ways to store healthy foods. also,do you have any recommendations looking about which coolers/appliances are best for preparing food under the restrictions of the APU and also space in the truck?

    thank you

I don't have an inverter in my truck, I use only appliances that are 12 volt. As I mentioned I use the lunch box oven, a 12 volt slow cooker and a hot pot to heat water. There are aluminum tins available for the lunch box oven. My wife sets aside portions from every meal into one of these tins and freezes it. I can then put that frozen meal in the lunch box oven and re heat it for consumption. My breakfast foods, such as eggs, usually scrambled or an omelette and has browns are sealed in a vacuum bag and frozen. I use a Coleman 12 volt cooler to store my meals for the week. All the meals are frozen when I launch and thawed by the end of the week. Of course I have consumed all bu the last meal for the week. I run Mon thru Fri and sometimes into Sat, so its fairly easy to carry meals for that time frame.
