It is typical with ALL large companies on weekends that utilize the QUALCOMM system. If he can make it to Monday...he WILL get dispatched by his original dispatcher (and stop worrying about title---who gives a crap who dispatches me by what title) and then he is on his way. It happens....and unfortunately it happened to your old man on a weekend. Company representatives completely put drivers out of their heads when the weekend comes.

Like you say you know waiting is apart of trucking. But as he will learn get a load before the weekend hits it is hard getting a good load on weekends. If he quit Roehl and goes somewhere else he has to go out with a o/o trainer again because he has no experience. Then it may not be as soon as roehl hit him but it will be another day just like today. But tell him just wait it out and see what happens. I also saw you mentioned he does not have a trainer fleet manger. But has a regular one maybe his o/o trainer felt he had everything down pack to that nature. So that maybe more or a pro then con. But yet again this trucking not McDonald's it's all about up's and downs and waiting hell I have been sitting on an off ramp for the last two hours waiting to get a tire changed from a blow out. I supposed to been back home.

He had a great Phase I experience...a decent Phase 2 experience...and he is finally found someone with some answers in the beginning Phase 3 experience. Hopefully things start to look up from here. He needs home time to recharge...I appreciate all of the positive (and negative) feedback. :biggrin_25525:

Not mine. 365/24/7 - the next load is a phone call away. Even if it's empties 1000+ miles home.

I got tired of the aforementioned treatment and found a better way to do it.

If he tested put yesterday I'm not surprised he does not have a load right away. More than likely they are going to try and give him a load "home". If they don't have one they have to get one (which takes time) or they have to build a relay (which also takes time). I believe you only have a "training dispatcher" in phase 1 and 2. After that you get put in with a regular dispatcher who just runs you a little easier while you are learning the ropes. I could be wrong with that though. When I started with Rhoel I was in the reefer division and hated the 2AM delivery times, so switched to dry-van which got me a different Fleet manager.

As far as Roehl goes though, I don't drive a truck anymore, but if I were ever to get back into it, Roehl would be my first choice. They are one of the better ones.

YES, his o/o was VERY impressed with his skills and quick learning. I know that my husband is made for this...and the ups and downs are okay. Sometimes! :) I am sure it is a pro...so this weekend probably put a hiccup into his progress. He is talking to a GARY terminal employee who is going above and beyond to help him now. Again...thanks all!!

Does Dispatch know he is available? Is he fully logged into Qualcomm and did he send in a 'Driver Status Change' with a status code indicating 'Available for new load?' How are his QC hours? If he doesn't have any hours, Dispatch may be forcing a 34 so that he can get 70 hours back before he rolls. Where did they say he was in the load queue?

Just had another thought. They might be waiting on updated DVIRs. Has he sent those in yet?
