Never heard of such a thing, and phase 2 with a trainer doesn't last 21 days. Typically 10 days, so not sure where that info comes from. I'd check again. 21 days would be the "no experience" school, which they would pay for, then you would sign a contract yes.

That is what I am going to get clarification on tomorrow from their military program coordinator. I know they had told me that it is a 10-13 day training and your paid 600 a week for a new grad after the orientation and securement training. I know that the orientation and securement is not 21 days. I think that is their rookie driving CDL school. they advertise 3 weeks.

Phase One is a week long and takes place in yard and surrounding streets.
Phase Two is 10 to 14 days out on the road with a trainer, which adds up to 21 days, roughly.
That's for drivers who already have their CDLs.

The pay is $600 for the first week, Phase One, of which $300 is paid on the Thursday of the second week, then the second $300 is paid on the Thursday of the following week. This is apparently to keep people from bugging out with the entire $600 bucks or to keep them from being able to pay their bills or something. :biggrin_25511:

Okay, is there any truth to this about a contract for the 21 days of training where you have to stay for 6 months or pay them?

If you come to Roehl with your CDL in hand, there is no contract that I'm aware of. If you come to Roehl needing a CDL, then there is a contract if you want them to eat the cost of the school and such. Unless they've recently changed things.

I came with a private/state funded cdl in hand.
Got a sign on split in two weeks.
Got a cpap machine with note payable.
Breezed through their orientation and drivers skills assessment week.
Phase 1 assessment and drug tests and apnea test
    Phase 2 driver trainer
    Phase 3 on ur own

1&2 usually where students wash out. Half my truck washed out...nearly all did but me.

    No other notes.

I plan on driving with Roehl's regional dry van fleet in Texas. The nearest terminal from where I live is about a two hour drive. Do you know if I have to live a certain distance from the terminal?

About 50 MI will get them to send you home in truck.
    Near the region I believe.

    JRD85 Thanks this.

I've been with Roehl for over 3 years and I had to sign a similar contract when I did my training. I think I had to drive for 110-120,000 paid miles and then they would forgive the debt for my training. If I had quit before that, I would have had to pay some or all of the money back.

For the most part, Roehl is a good company. Just don't expect to get rich driving for them. My gross income before taxes is only about $3,000/month.
