I'll be at the Fox Valley Tech school in Appleton WI on 10/20. Anyone else going on that same day?

That's great. I hear good things about them. Best of luck.

I will be going to Ellenwood GA. 10/20 for faltbed national

Going 12/8, unsure exactly which one yet (holiday season) Gary IN, Marshfield WI or Appleton WI

Also, FVTC training facility is directly across the street from Appleton terminal. My favorite terminal, so far. Haven't been to Ellenwood, GA and only saw Marshfield via freeway on my way to PA from Iowa.Last edited: Oct 11, 2014

Thanks for the advice on the fries. I'm from Michigan so snow doesn't bother me. Just have to figure out how the truck handles it. Finished cdl school Thursday. Road test Tuesday. I'm looking forward to getting on the road.

Awesome, man. Roehl has been pretty good to me. The few times I've had issues, they've been right there and willing to get me to a shop.
Yooper or main land Michigan?
That Iron Mountain terminal isn't as bad as people say. The guys working there are usually spot on, and cool as hell when you have questions.
Get ready for Ceiling tiles, man. L'Anse Certainteed has great runs but I never feel good carrying them. I had 2 damaged skids in Billings, MT because I over-tightened the straps, so they say.
They were about to blow off of the trailer through N.Dakota. Either way, I doubt you'll regret starting out at Roehl.
They've been good to me, and everyone else in the nat'l flatbed division I've talked to. We're kind of bad a ss es, I guess.
The reefer division needs solid drivers too, and I've heard dispatch and planners treat you pretty good.
Flatbed gets +.03 and Reefer gets +.02 over dry van, I've heard.
I'm at .39 after 4-6 weeks. Not bad, IMHO.
If you're in NC, you might want to call WTI/Boyd Bros. about flatbedding, too. They pay a little bit more. But, I'm staying here. Also, BTC pays pretty good. You're going to meet a guy in Alabama at Precision Strip, and he's going to try to recruit you. I stay with Roehl because I think they're better for me. He's making tons of money on their percentage pay and he gets to his house every 3-4 days. Don't do it, yet.
Good luck, man.Last edited: Oct 11, 2014

Mainland. Haven't been back since '97. Retired from the Corps in '05. I chose Roehl over Melton. See how it goes. Hopefully good, but we'll see, all companies have their own ways. Just have to find one that fits.
