Something to think about, I have a mobile office in my truck. I have an all-in-one printer, laptop and Verizon MiFi. If your trailer is missing a registration, or inspection sticker maintenance can just email it to you and then you can print it out. By using an internet fax service such as MyFax you can send and receive faxes in your truck. If the shipper only gives you 1 copy of the BOL you can just make your own copy. I've had times my cell phone couldn't get a signal and I could either use Skype, or Google phone to get in touch with the family. You can also fax your trips and other paperwork to the company as well. I also email my logs to myself every week. I don't care whether you are a company driver, or an owner-operator, to me this is part of being a professional.
Just another little rant- I think the reserved parking at Petro/TA is great. It has allowed me to work more efficiently and reduced stress. I've heard all the gripes, but you go ahead and run out of hours because you can't find a place to park. I'll reserve my spot when needed and drive relaxed, assured I have a place waiting at the end of the day.jeepnut_nh Thanks this. -
Totally agree, Preacher Man on the TA/Petro park-it. I like using it when I get in an area where parking is at a premium or later in the evening and I want to make sure there is a parking place. It is a tax deduction that can be written off by either company driver or O/O.
Have never figured out why a shipper hands a driver just one copy of the BOL. Cheap is the only answer. That BOL is you paycheck. Never leave without 2 copies. When I was with my trainer at Roehl, we delivered a load. Left the Consignee. Went to scan the paper work. No BOL. We both turned that truck inside out. Never found it. Don't know if it blew out when we both had doors open or if neither one of us picked it up off the counter. He thought that he might not get paid for the load. Consignee was nice and fax a copy to Roehl. -

Oh, do be careful with that business of "selling your soul". Satan will only destroy you but Jesus died to save you. God bless my friend.
