I am currently persuing a carrer change. I have done my research on different companies and have heard very posotive things about roehl. I would like to get the opinion of current roehl drivers about the company. It is not to late for me to back out and I dont want to make a mistake. I am walking away from a job that I have been at for about 12 years to persue a better financial opportunity.

any input would be appreciated

If you run a search on Roehl--i am sure you will find lots of info on it. I think most people like roehl but you can search it and see what others say about it.

I have done my research on the company, I have found a lot of information good and bad. I am trying to get some input from drivers who drive for roehl, also how would I convince my wife to look into otr truck driving as a career option. She doesnt beleive that she could ever drive a truck.

Sure she could--its much easier today than it used to be. I love driving--it just depends on the person though. I firmly believe anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. But she has to want to do it herself not for you. Its not that bad. There is many threads on this forum where husband and wife teams went to school together. I think its under "questions from new drivers" section. You can have her look it up and check it out. Most of these couples are at least middle age like myself too. Good luck!

There is good and bad in every single trucking company. So I suggest you look at who is willing to pay the most, and offers what you want. ex:401k, low health costs, or regional travel routes as some examples. They all say 2500 miles. they all say they are the best, they all say whatever they have to get you to walk thru the door.

But when you are in you will find out about all the nasty lil secrets like shortening miles, unrealistic safety bonus requirements, getting wrote up for the most trivial incedents.

So now here is the funny part no matter which you choose, aint no different then any others. Like grandmama used to say: The grass aint no greener on the other side of the fence

This just popped in my skull also drive the type of truck you want to. Creature comforts would be an APU and a bunk heater.

I changed careers at 40 and did a ton of research. I ended up with Roehl and I used their traing school. I have been with them foe six months and I have no regrets. They have treated me fairly and have kept all their promises. Like every company you are gonna find people who are unhappy. Roehl pays as good as most, has a great maintenance department and gives the drivers pretty good support overall. You just have to come into it with a positive mindset. Good luck

So are you running national or regional? Do you get to take truck home without the trailor? How is your home time? How many miles a week do you avg? Do you have an inverter in your truck, if so, how big? How was trainig(how many days out and home time after each evo)?

I ask these question because I am to start orientation on March 12th. Thanks in advance.
