That's so true. I've been guilty of it myself.

Hey drivers. Could any of you tell me if Schneider make the lease purchase drivers turn/slow their trucks down? I know the company trucks are slow and the o/o's do as the want when thats concerned, but what about the L/P drivers?

The lease purchase (smart start) trucks are real OO trucks, not the orange trucks. They are not turned down. You really can't tear it up tho, they're running electronic logs now.( I think) Actually, the orange trucks are a better deal, they sell them cash only. The L/P trucks are trucks turned back in,either traded in on new(rare) or failed OO's. They are really expensive, I mean REALLY expensive. I knew a guy that bought a 379 ext. hood from them. Paid $20,000 more than anything comparable in the truck paper. That's a pretty tough nut at 90 cpm plus a weak fuel surcharge. I don't know how they do it, alot don't. (hence the truck their trying to sell you) Don't get me wrong,I like Schneider, just wish I could make money there.

Oh, so they hit you over the head with a extra high price on the Rig... (Thanx Driver) Ive been contemplating on going there or Anderson Trucking, they both seem to have similar L/P plans. But from my research I do know that Schneider has access to a lot more freight... I was wondering, I see you got some time in, in your opinion: 1. Do you think a doing a L/P program can be successful while coming home most weekends? I'm talking, as a regional and/or dedicated (lease-O/O) driver, not OTR... 2. What about local dedicated coming home every night working 5-6days wkly..?

I really don't know. I guess it depends on the company. Andersons plan looks better than Schneiders, but from what I can see, you'll never own the truck. They want to keep re-leasing you a newer truck every year. Schneiders is flat mileage, where Andersons is 67% of gross. That kinda scares me , 67% of a mystery number. Being on %, you don't get paid for dead head either. I'm kinda in the same boat, sold my 379 ext.hood 12/09, rates were crashing, thought it was the end of the world. Now I wish I had my truck back. I'm looking into lease purchase, too. Crst Malone looks like a doable program, I think once you figure out their program, you could probably get home pretty often. ( depending on where you live) I live outside Chicago, lotsa flatbed stuff around here, I think. ( Don't get your truck from Schneider finance, most expensive trucks I've ever seen. Plus, the guys that were there were buying them sight unseen)

Sorry but if that is your biggest concern..................don't get into O/O or L/P.
    It isn't for you.

I have been with CRST twice, never did me wrong. But then had a childhood friend that drove with SNI, said they were fair. Guess either is a good company. I did CRST van expedited, don't know about Malone.

I wouldn't touch a company lease back for anything. If you going to be independent do the research spend the time and do it. I quite when looked like fuel was going to hit a buck a gallon, but got too big took 5 years to get my people out and liquidate last 18 months wildcatting off load boards with 12 year old loading me before school from home. If she could always find loads and get me home, daddy always got home, you should be able to, computers not in trucks much in 02. Remember cheap freight from places to get out is more expensive than moving a few hundred miles for money and direction. In time someone will like you enough to hook you up as a steady where and when you want to go be reliable, friendly, and remember-able jokes, odd stories don't often but leave an impression.

World of difference between CRST van expedited and Malone (100% O/O and all flatbed, pays better, too.)
