I had 6 years before Schneider my wife wanted to drive and schneider offered training in04 when i came here so she went thru it and we drove team, we decided to have a child and in 07 she left trucking and in 08 we had our daughter. I went solo in 07 and from then until 09 i was otr or what schneider calls system. I was under Ferris who i now believe is in nashville or lebeanon tn. I would stay out 14-18 days and averaged 3000 miles even on the weeks going to the house and coming out of the house. I did this because i run and run hard i don't like to f around on the road and avoid truck stops when i can. i keep the left door closed. I was willing to cover loads or what ever but ferris knew i wanted to run. I'd do 1 34 hr reset otr and then be just about out of hours when i got home. I worked the logs legally cuz they were paper then. When i shut down for a 10 hr break at 10 hr mark i was pre tripping and ready to go i also learned how to work the qualcomm and use it to my advantage. there are slow freight times and i would usually take my vacation during those times when possible. The miles depend on your relationship with dbl and the way you run. I'll give an example. When a DBL comes in in the Am they check their driver's status and location. they do this to 1.Make sure the driver is on schedule for OTD and to see how the driver has been running. 2 This lets them know thru mac 18's who they need freight for. Say driver 1 has a load that is 1000 miles and 3 days til delivery but its an open delivery, and he takes 3 days to get there. thats 333 miles a day. Driver 2 has a 1000 load and open delivery 3 days out but he drives it in 2 days and deliver's early or at least gets there early. The DBL knows which driver busts but so when the 1000 mile load comes up and it has 2 days to deliver whodo you think gets the load. I've sat at Oc's on my 34 hr reset and talkedto driver's that had plenty of time on loads and they decided to kill time at the oc and not go straight to the delivery. well there's nothing wrong with that every one needs a break but if you constantly run that way then thats the way you'll be dispatched. so miles are dependent on 2 things. The freight available and the way the available driver runs. Also when i take home time if it's 2 days i always make sure it's the last day of one week and the first of the next week example. Schneider cut off used to be sat nite at midnite so i would put in home time for friday knowing i'd get home usually that evening and so i'd have sat off which is last day of pay week and sunday the first day of new week. in 09 i went dedicated and was home every weekend from friday nite til monday at noon. i did the same run every week it was boring but i always got 2700 miles per week actually it was 2689 but i rounded up. I took a pay cut in cpm but i got weekly hometime and guarnteed miles so it was worth it. as anew driver learning the industry and schneider systems i'd say 2200-2500 is more likely the first 6 month's not to mention this is the slowest time of year coming up. after that if you run to earn and not burn that means smart you should be able to do 2500 every week but remember the week you come out could be less and the week you go home could be less thats why i did the 14-18 days . whew more to come if you ask,,,,LOL

Oh and mickey schneider is a forced dispatch if your a company driver. so if you are you'll be forced to run where they say but that's how the game works. I did tell my dbl i didn't want to run canada and was only sent there once in 7 years

I am buying thru Schneider. I know everyone says don't buy where your leased to but i've been happy for 7 years here and i am going to pay it off in 24 month's. I will use my knowledge of the schneider system to make some money and get the truck paid for. then i will evaluate my options when it's paid for then make another decision. I'm going in to this with money in the bank and a business plan and the ability to run 2 weeks or more if the freight is good. I researched for the last year checked truck prices and schneider's is close to the market so i feel as though it's a good deal for me.
