I am getting ready to go to school next week and am looking at Schneider's Military Apprenticeship Program for when I get out. Was wondering, who has some info on this and how much hassle was the paperwork for the VA and getting paid by them?

Precisely what I'd like to know. Hopefully it's one of those things where they do most of the paperwork like when you use the G.I. Bill for college. An extra grand a month would be awesome.

Schneider is a prefered Veteran hiring company or some thing like that, There's a lot of veteran driver's and schneider has a special veterans program i believe they do the paperwork and walk you thru the process but i am not 100% sure. give recruiting a call or visit their web site. Good Luck and Thank You for your service to our Country.

Yeah Tennman , I talked to a recruiter about a month, was just seeing if anyone had first hand experiance, ( I spent 3 years as an Army Recruiter, so I know how that goes, lol) sounds like a real good program. Would really like to go with Schneider when I graduate next month, I have read alot of your post Tennman, very inciteful, thanks alot for posting alot of good info.

Im doing the military apprenticeship program right now. I had to send Schneider my dd214 and proof that I was qualified through the VA to receive it. They sent in all my paperwork and my regional processing office received it on November 7 ( according to my Wave). I spoke to them a couple weeks ago to see when I could expect payment, and they said that all apprenticeship claims are taking approximately 10-12 weeks to do. The system is different for apprenticeship than it is for being in school and using the GI Bill, so it takes longer to get. Next monday will be my 10 week mark, so hopefully I get my first deposit, which they said will be for September-December, by February. At that point, they said you see one deposit a month.

Thanks Belliott17, thats what I was afraid of, OK sounds cool though, hopefully in another month I can start the long process after I get out of school.

What type of school are you in? I went through a School to get my cdl and was able to collect te GI bill while in, so you might want to look into that. It's great that schneider participates in the program, I just don't like how long it's taking lol. By the time I get the first payment, I will be almost half way through with the program and only have about 1 more month of the full payment before it gets reduced. But anything, no matter the amount, helps and I'm thankful for being able to use the GI bill.

I'm going through Lake Cumberland CDL at the Elizabethtown community college and using my Post 9/11 to pay for it and getting the BAH while I'm going. Glad I can do this when I get out and go to Schneider as their was no way I was going to college full time and us my GI Bill.
