Kinda weird IMO they require you to have previous owner op experience... -
They require o/o. Experience for the choice (percentage) lease but not for the mileage lease.
You can have a driver in the truck on mileage but not on choiceFreightlinerGuy Thanks this. -
So basically choice = experience + no sub-contracting driving, and mileage = unexperienced+sub contracting driving.. -
If your on the mileage program.. how is it? what kind of miles you getting? are they pretty good at load planning for you, or ? Whats the rider policy for owner op? How much is the insurance they require? any other helpful info? -
I am on choice. I dont get along well with dispatchers
-
Thanks for info! -
Freightlinerguy, schneider doesn't want an owner operator to fail thats why they require the years exp as an O/O to do choice. As a new O/O there's more to being an O/O than just driving and Schneider figures if you make the first year then you have a good grasp on the basics. I would suggest you buy a truck and do the mileage and learn the system and freight lanes. as an O/O you can refuse loads and not run areas like NYC or NE. This way you get the exp and are ready to switch to choice.

Is the choice load board the same board that Schneider's trip planners would be using for the percentage mileage program?
Anyone out there on the mileage program? Whats the mileage like? Rider policy? They good at getting pre-plans setup?
I'm just collecting as much info as possible to actually make a decision on whether to proceed with trying o/o, and even do it with Schneider.. -
Schneider's rider policy is the same for company and O/O 10 years or older and signed waiver one at a time O/O can have pets. The stuff put on the choice board is for the choice board but mileage and choice both run the same freight as in same customer's. Mileage will be dependent on how you run and your dispatcher also.. but i'd guess around 2400-2600- weekly. pre plans will depend on your available and the area your going into. when the wife and i were teaming and running on the mileage side we were almost always preplanned. i can say Schneider is a decent company regardless of what others might say. I've been with sni for 7 plus years so i'm happy.
