Nice to see you doing another thread, you have a talent for writing. i might be doing the OTR thang again, and thinking about going Orange. Did they segregate Noob's from the experienced drivers in Orientation ? i'd be doing it in Fontana, if i do.

It was only Noob's in my orientation class in week one, when I came back in week 3 there were some experienced guys that were doing their own class.

    Hello again....

I am writing this from the comfort of my easy chair at home, I am on a four day break. Wife was getting upset in not seeing me in so long, so I came in for a bit to please her. Will get back to Fontana OC on Tuesday the 13th. Have to do my 30-90 day SafeTrak training thingy ma bob and then I hit the road again.

I had to put my new-er swanky truck into the shop, the right front bumper was falling off. The cowling underneath that supports it broke away and that messed everything up. Shop says they will fix it on Saturday evening. Fingers crossed....... Other than that, first week in the truck went well. Did 2600 miles, truck is much more powerful and smoother than my old one, fer sure.

I can set the cruise at 60, and do 65 when I punch the accelerator to the floor. The jakes are nice and strong as well. I have to be careful with running my batteries down. If I leave my cooler on overnight and use my inverter to charge my computer, the batteries default will kick in and switch of the aux circuits. Since I have the ambient sensor, I cannot just straight idle the truck, I have to press the service brake every four minutes to keep the engine from dying. Usually 20-30 minutes of this will fully charge the batteries again.

Overall in my first 6 weeks of driving, I am happy overall with my choice of going with Schneider as my first choice into the trucking world. Will I stay here forever, probably not. But for now, I am quite content with my choice. My dbl leaves me alone to do my job, and I run hard and am getting good miles so far.

Talk to ya after I get back out on the road.

    Stay safe...

    Grijon Thanks this.

You must be an IC? If not, that's abysmal for a company truck. Which OC are you based out of?

    Waving from the Pumpkin Patch...........

Been back out on the road for 5 days since my TAH. Have run 2300 miles in those five days. Broke my mileage in a day record yesterday, did 628.

Needless to say I have been rolling. Ran from LA up to Portland and back. Then ran from LA to Porterville CA and now on a run from Oxnard up to Tracy.

Have had a pre-assignment at least two hours before I drop my current load. No down time at all. My DBL is great, really keeping me moving.

Will have to take a 34 Monday night/Tuesday. Need a break!!

New truck running well, nice and strong.

Been lucky so far, no snow and chaining.

    See ya next time...............

Grijon and kerosene jockey Thank this.

Waving in the wind in Weed CA...........

Holed up here for the net 34 hours, ran through my 70 in 7 days, but I did over 3000 miles, so no big deal, I could use a break.

The wind is blowing sustained here at 45 - 55 with gusts to 65!!! The truck is rocking and shaking..... feels like the earthquakes I have been in. There is a high wind advisory for the entire Shasta Valley area until Tuesday night, glad I aint rolling until Wed morning. No snow forecast, just lots of wind and rain.

Headed to the Walmart DC in lovely Hermiston OR.

And the Wi Fi here at the Pilot is pretty strong, should be able to do some NetFlix tomorrow.

My DBL has told me I will keep rolling right through Thanksgiving and beyond, plenty of loads available.

So far all is Orange in the Pumpkin patch.

Peace out and stay safe y'all!

    Grijon Thanks this.

Wallyworld in Hermiston, aka the Sandbox, if you gotta stay i recommend Space age T/S free WiFi and A&W rootbeer resturant and Tv lounge and the biggest doughnut you ever saw. The pilot sucks even though the remodeled it, used to have 5'5 high shower heads in showers :biggrin_2556:
