Is this normal? I applied to a couple dedicated accounts last night, spoke with a recruiter, recruiter told me I cannot apply to a dedicated account until I return from my trip next week, told me they need people to start orientation right away for dedicated accounts but they would hold a regional position for me. I was hoping to start after I got back from my trip.
Applied for Dedicated that hires students but?

Stick with dedicated. Theres money in it , consistant home time, etc. -
Yea, like mickey said, sounds like BS....tell the recruiter you will go elsewhere if they won't give you dedicated.
-
As much as it sounds like BS it probably isn't.They need to fill seats as the dedicated customer has loads to haul.If they have 5 spots open they will not hold it for a week just for you to go on a trip.If someone else wants it and can go to orientation right away they get it.Hell I've seen guys show up at orientation promised a dedicated account only to be told they hired too many people and all they have available is OTR.
With the amount of people I see nowadays wanting to be home more and a more steady schedule how long do you expect them to keep a spot open. The customer doesn't wait a week to ship their extra loads they need you now.How bad you want this dedicated account will dictate you going on the trip or not. -
Couldn't say better my self. Those dedicated accounts fill up up fast. I had one I got a email on called my dbl with 15min. And was told the account was full. And before you say my dbl was lying I called the account directly thinking that he wasn't. Those accounts are a premium and today's truckers prefer that lifestyle then the old way so they go fast. So it comes down to it how bad do u want the job?

Well their are a few dedicated jobs available right now in my area, so hopefully they will still have some openings after Oct. 13th when I return, I'm leaving the country for a week and have no way out of it so I will leave it up to fate I guess.

Dedicated is the way to go. Better hours, more pay, newer equipment, lots of things better

Well, I have to disagree guys. Evey dedicated account in the area here is always looking for drivers, they never fill. The account I am on is trying to get some drivers to go to Dekalb to help because they are short there.....which leaves us short here, and every dedicated driver I talk to tells me they need drivers and tries to get me to come over.
