I doubt the recruiter was anything but professional when the conversation started. Recruiters are trying to get drivers and they do not do that by starting a phone interview with being rude. If the recruiter did not want to hire him from the start they would not have wasted there time calling at all.

From the OP’s post it seems like he just decided that they should not be asking about anything older than 5 years and when they did he got an attitude. The OP’s post is just one side of the story and frankly I do not believe him when he said “and let me tell you, just by the way she addressed me on the phone, I felt like hanging up the phone.”

They have to document everything over the last 10 years by FMCSA rules. It would seem that the OP has a less than stellar record over that time and coped and attitude with the recruiter when she dared ask about anything the OP did not wish to or feel comfortable talking about. The fact that they called at all says that they were at least willing to look at him in spite of his record, it was the way he responded that cost him the job.

I would think it would make us a bottom feeder if we did hire guys with that record. I like big orange, good pay and good people. Not a bed company at all, on the bulk side at least.

Was thinking about their tanker division and what it's like for someone who lives in south east Alabama can you shed any light on this or are you familiar with it say in the home time and potential earnings. Thanks!

Haha I said bed company, stupid auto-fill. Anyway, to your question. I would say that running out of bama you would have to give up some hometime for money or vice versa. For me I run about three out and take four or five days at home. I can usually clear over a grand a week. I have written many post over in the Schneider section. Look them up. I am happy with Schneider, there are people who aren't but there are many who are. Whatever you do though, stay away from the van side.

it easy to judge others with you do the same thing hum!? You sounds a lot like a recruiter aren't ya? I am a very humble kind man that listen a say "yes Ma'am... no Ma'am" when appropriate... For me it is really not professional some one to address a potential employee like "I not the one in need of a job, you are the one, so you better tell me everything..." And as I tried to explain she just interrupt me with other stupid questions o pre-judging me. YES, YOU ARE A RECRUITER! Is you real name Nancy? lol

What are you, two years old? I can imagine your interview gong much like your posts on here, overly defensive, childish, and hostile.

You clearly did not understand that they are required to look at your prior ten years of driving history or you would not have made the post titled “10 YEARS Motor Vehicle Record, Are You Serious???”. Yes they are serious, the FMCSA rules require it.

I am not a recruiter but you can call me anything you want if it makes you feel better, it matters not to me. Name calling just further shows how childish you are. I have had to deal with many a recruiter for many jobs over the years and I have never had one need to remind me that it was me looking for employment from them to get me to answer a simple question.

Best of luck with your next interview, just remember that any trucking company has to have your last ten years of commercial driving history documented and try not to take it so personally when they ask you about it. After all, it is your record and you have only yourself to blame for it. You just might want to consider owning up to your history and trying to convince them you have learned from it instead of avoiding their questions and copping an attitude about it.

"Then she paused and said, "how about this accident in 2008?" - Explanation: I was driving a Straight truck, 26,000 lb in one of those narrow street in Savannah, GA on the center lane to avoid to hit the tree's branch and a SOB tried to cut me off as he passes me, and guess what, he had no time for that, before his lane ended and his rear bumper touched my truck. I didn't see the MF coming, it was too fast, when I get into the brake it was too late. -"

perhaps he shouldnt have gone down that street to begin with, gone slower, been aware of surroundings via mirror.

This was in a straight truck and he's trying to be hired to drive a combo vehicle? This was an example of is decision making.

The good news in this is neither the company's time nor his (well, thats debatable there is this thread after all) were wasted.

its a 10 year work history and his accident was 5 years ago by my math. Hmmm, a company might want to know these things.

Hey! Schneider is not a bottom feeder company! They are professional company! We are professionals! Granted some of us are still acquiring to be professional.

It is what you make it!

Seriously doubt there is a truck company out there that is going treat you like royalty and line your pockets with gold unless you bring the same value to the table! We all should be treated with respect at the least for the work we do and pretty much get that here at Schneider. Yes! big company's have to be very strict when hiring and employing workers because they have big liabilities. It's not for everyone but it's far from being a bottom feeder company. If you ask me we got it pretty good here!

So... He was driving down a narrow street, down the center of the street, which means he has right-of-way with regards to the vehicles behind him. A car that was behind him decided to pass him, and in executing said pass (illegal, I might add, based on the situation), hit his truck.

The way I see it, it was the other driver's fault. Even if he was in the right and was executing a proper pass in a proper passing zone, he still hit the truck when re-entering the lane, which leaves the fault on his side, and not the truck driver's side.

The only thing the trucker could have done differently would be to drive even more firmly down the middle of the street, making sure NO ONE could pass to either side (this is a trick I use when picking up/dropping off kids to help stop the bus stop sign runners--it works pretty well, and protects the kids).

This entire situation would've been avoided if he had a dash cam, or had thought of what I just explained. But I firmly believe he wasn't at fault, based on the available information.
