I'm working with a recruiter out of the Salt Lake City, UT OC, and was wondering if any of the Schneider drivers on here happen to run the western 6/3 regional? Looking for some feedback in how many miles a week are being averaged, and if the info I had about running pretty much from SLC to Southern California is spot on. So far I love working with Schneider, Kay's been great....but due to a previous company regional position that was far away from company headquarters I'm a bit gun shy about making this jump. Anyone on here run out of that OC? How are they to work with... it seemed the yard itself is a real rat hole, but I don't mind that much since I'm much more interested in parking the rig and going home! How's the equipment on the regional fleets? I'm a flatbedder by trade, but wouldn't mind a van gig if it fits my needs better.

One thing about SLC is it has the best maintenance shop I've dealt with. They generally have a light workload and get you in right away for whatever issue you have (unless parts have to be ordered obviously). Not sure about the gig you are talking about but I imagine you will run a whole lot of I-15

I looked at Schneiders Job Page for Utah and could not find this job posted anywhere. I seen the 7/7 job but not a 6/3. I would be interested in the 6/3 also.

6/3 works very well on hometime. 3 days off for every 6 out? heck yeah, sign me up. This schedule is 3 drivers split between two trucks. one of the drivers is always rotating to home and the trucks are always on the road. Load in , load out , every 6 days. PITA. then you have to hope that the other two drivers are clean and respectful of the situation.

I had good partners, cleaned up afetr etc., THAT wasnt the issue. Pull out a calender and put and x in what would be the 6 days out and leave the three days off blank. keep gong until you get a clear picture of what paid driving days per payweek you'll get over the course of say two to three months.

You will start with 6 days driving paid in a week then it will shift to 5 days then 3 weeks straight of 4 days in a payweek, then back to 5 then 6 and repeat the cycle.

If consistant weekly pay amounts are not an issue then this is a cool board to be on.

One thing , its easy to burn up and use your entire or most of your70 in 5-6 days. so you'd have to really be on your game in managing your clocks. Sucks heading home and having to sit for a restart just to go home. I got to a point of averaging 11 hrs on duty/driving total for a day to ensure a few hours left on the shelf to get me home. Most typically was driving around 450 a day before shut down. Really depended on delivery time and how traffic was expected to be. and now with the new HOS changes that would be made more difficult in having the 30 min break at or beofre 8 hrs on duty and the restart 1-5am provisions.

ALWAYS have a backup plan for parking. I allowed myself an hour driving that I kept to myself per day when trip planning.

What I understand about western 11, miles arent a problem.

Thanks mickeyrat, that's pretty much what I had assumed. I'd run the 7/7 hometime plan when Roehl was the first one to come up with it. Loved it, but it was a little too much hometime vs what my bills would allow. I'm not worried about consistent weekly pay since I can budget for that once I'm in the swing of things as long as the overall pay is there - you know?

The slip seat aspect is the only cruddy part in my mind, but hopefully I won't be cleaning a truck all that often and have some respectful truck share partners. I'm glad to hear about the miles out west - I was hoping because they were offering a nice sign on bonus for the runs out west it might mean they have more freight than drivers to run it currently. Of course, the first quarter of the year always slows down a good bit for everyone.

other downside is smoker or non. That can be an issue BUT they make the effort to accommodate. Last that I can think of is no meeting other drivers until you run into each other on load out/load in.

Soemthing I didnt think of when on it, is leaving notes for stay on the truck stuff and work to get that supplied? Soemthing beyond issued stuff like oil, replacement lights, fuses etc. But little niceties that are convenient to have. seat back organizer etc.

I used a rubbermaid tub for load in/out. soon you will see what you use or dont need.

For sure if you do this , or anyone else reading this thats interested, is to get the other drivers phone numbers to coordinate better on truck eta, etc. DBL works to a point but I found it better to get the info first hand.
