I agree, modifications will probably be in order.

Well, I'm here, and I had on my vest today, but I dunno about a dapper looking 'guy'...being the only female in class makes it easy to find me!

Nice truck sadwar. At least it's not like the new Cascadia's. The new ones in Charlotte look just like a company Cascadia, no gauge package and the flat black dash....

    sadwar Thanks this.

I think the "clamp" between the ball of the mount and the Qcomm itself comes in a longer version? Maybe a foot or something like that? Might get it closer to the dash, but that seems like a very odd place to mount it to begin with.

Nice truck Sadwar! Looks like it has some decent upgrades comparing to the company ones. Custom seats and gauges, awesome!

Day one done, signed my life away on ALOT of dotted lines. Here's a recap of the day.

Bus picked us up at 6:15 from the hotel. Got to Schneider and immediately went into a classroom with 11 other guys. Six of us were IC's, five experienced drivers headed to company side. 4 of the 6 IC's (including me) were leasing from Schneider Finance, other two brought their own trucks. I was the only company to IC transfer, so I got to leave and go sit in the break room. Around 7:15 Gayle came out and told me what to expect for the day. But that's not what happened. Everybody else had to get physicals and that took forever.... I mean until 10:30, so I spent over four hours sitting in the break room talking to another IC who was trading in his old truck he had on a one year lease and leasing a brand new T680 for three years. During this time is when my truck showed up and I got to see it and post the pictures.

At 10:30 my finance rep Jolene came and got me and the 4 of us leasing trucks got to go see our trucks, first time for the 3 of them, second time for me. After that, around 11:00, the 4 of us went over our leases in detail and signed on the dotted lines lots of times. This took until 12:45. We missed lunch so they provided box lunches for us. We got 10 minutes to eat because the insurance person showed up at 1:00, she was supposed to do her thing at 11:30. So the 6 of us picked our truck insurance, some required, some elective. She also provided some info and a number to call if we wanted medical, dental, life insurance etc. This took about 45 minutes. Then I was shown the door again and went back out to the break room. Gayle showed up and took me back to the offices and we did more paperwork transitioning me from company driver to IC. I got my new driver number, my fuel card, my pre-pass/ezpass, my permit book, and filled out a lot more paperwork. That took about 30 mins. Then Glen came in and spoke to me for about 15 minutes. He's the guy who handles the company to IC transfers. Then another guy came in, can't remember his name, and talked to me about the referral program and since I am a vet and he was a vet, he talked a lot about that. After that I was shown the door again and went back out to the break room. It was a little after three and the other 10 guys were just leaving the classroom so we all hoped on the van and came back over to the hotel. I left my truck at the shop, obviously, about three inches of snow on the ground and still coming down heavy. Hope to pick it up tomorrow.

I was supposed to get a copy of my lease back, but that didn't happen today. When I get it back tomorrow I can give you rock solid numbers on what everything is costing me.

All in all, very pleased. Everyone is very friendly and seems to really want me to succeed.

Rest of the week is cake. I have to be back at 10:30 tomorrow for a one hour class on ATBS, the tax service we get free for six months. That's it for tomorrow officially. But I plan on getting my truck and driving it around. I have alot of stuff to test out and figure out. Play with the APU. Gonna couple/uncouple to an empty in the yard and pull it around. I also need to move all of my stuff that is taking up half of my hotel room into it!

On Wednesday I have to be there at 2:30 for a one hour class on something or other, I can't remember. I also need to fuel and scale my truck.

On Thursday we have Choice training from 8-12. Teach us the load board and what they pay us (65%, detention, etc..) I've already been checking the load board and there are some nice looking loads leaving from around here on Thursday-Friday. Wonder where my empty will be at.....

That's it for now, will update tomorrow with figures and all.

    Stay frosty!

Dang, that sucks, I was hoping I would get to keep my driver number, I have had it since 2007 and its easy to remember.
