Hey yall, please dont mind my punctuation, im a truck driver, not an english major ! Anyway, started tanker orientation in houston today.Drove my personal vehicle to Houston after pre work screen in Reserve, La. Holy crap, my legs are still burning from the pws. I been running otr solo for last 3 months with Pam and definately outta shape and bein dam near 50 doesnt help ! Passed the pws and drove the 300 miles to Houston. Arrived at noon on the day before at red roof inn. Took an hr to get a room. NO fridge or micro (sucks) but no roommate either. So it will do.would have called the front desk to find out shuttle time to yard but phone doesnt work. Oh well, will get downstairs bout 6 am.Arrived in lobby at 6, was gonna grab bite to eat but, small dine in area and packed out so will just get by til lunch. Load up and head to terminal bout 615. Luckily the sophomore class told us newbies where to go. I FILLED out paper for lunch, went into class and waited. We got on computers about 730ish and completed about 3 1/2 hrs of training.seemed like 30 hrs but got thru it. Was interrupted several times by instructors talking and filling out paperwork. Finally lunchtime, was starving from no breakfast. Crap,my sandwich and a few others didnt make it from subway. Instructor went back and got them. 2nd lunch arrived at 130. Did more paperwork. Finihed that up about 230. Next step is to get a pair of steel- toed boots. Awesome deal for 35 bucks ! Pretty much done for the day. Spent alot of wasted time on the first day which is understandable I spose. Hopefully tomorrow will be less downtime. Will let ya know what day 2 brings !

I heard that. Pretty much same here. I started orientation with pam on nov 11 2013. Drove dry van for 3 months solo. First 2 months werent bad. After that miles went downhill, from about 2600 to 1700. I did alot of "favors" for my dm cuz i know they can make or break ya. It didnt help. My dm left the company or was terminated. So, basically i was not assigned a dm for a week and was getting crap loads. After 3 months I received a call from someone claiming they were my new teammate. Pam told me about it 3 days after i received the phone call. A relative was hospitalized and told pam i needed to get home, it was time for hometime anyway. They couldnt get me home for 4 days. I wasnt that far from home. Bout 3 or 4 hrs. I did get home the day before the funeral. Did not go back. I have driven for swift and marten 10 yrs ago.and recently pam. Out of the 3 i believe swift was the better and pam a close 2nd. Didnt want to run teams tho.

They were forcing me to go teams cuz i went thru their training school and signed a contract that they could team me up for 6 months in the first year. Orientation is fast paced and goes by very quickly. I enjoyed it. David in orientation looks like a miniature chuck norris or texas walker ranger.when you get ur trk put in for p.o. For 25.00 for cleaning the truck. They will give it to ya. Hopefully ya dont have to go far to get ur trk.good luck and keep me posted

As far as i know schneider hasnt pulled out of oil fields. They do send people on stinkin greyhound to get trks. I was one of the few lucky ones. I got a rental car and drove from n. jackson,oh to charlotte to pick up international at dealer. Hope ya get a freightliner. I switched trucks 3 times in 3 months cuz of breakdowns in int. egr cooler on one.no defrosters on 2nd one and it was in shop 2 days b4 they gave me no.3 and bunk heater ddnt work on it. Minor, just an actuator. Trk only had 49k miles. Very few got trk in tontitown, people got bussed to n. jackson, little rock mostly.
