    Hello,

How is orientation? What do they make you do?

Also, do they still make you get on one knee keeping both knees on the long metal plate and unscrew/re-screw the cap and get back up without leaning/grabbing anything?

Do they make you climb the tank trailer ladder without rails and screw/unscrew the cap outside the terminal?

    Thanks

    stevep1977 Thanks this.

Thank you for suggesting that thread. I have went through it, however, it doesn't answer the question as to the pre-work screen at orientation.

If someone could answer about the pre-work screen they do at orientation for the tank/bulk division it would be very helpful!

might I then suggest you pm ethos directly? You can reasonably expect to do the prework screen. As to the specifics, ethos is your man.

The only thing you have to do in the prework screen (that you don't have to do in van) is walk down and back on a balancing beam without falling off, then you have to walk on a platform (barely off the ground) just like on top of the tank, crouch or kneel down, show you can pick up the wash out cap, then walk back. The rest is the same as van orientation except you have to be able to lift a slightly heavier crate up than you have to in van. You don't have to climb on top of tanks until after you pass the pws. ANd yes, before they are ever going to send you out with a trainer your going to have to show them that you can safely climb on top of the tank, walk around and take off/replace the washout caps, show that you can complete unloading of product, and that you can drive a tanker and deal with the surge

Steve is correct about all of that except that they will just make sure you can climb to the top of the ladder doing three points of contact of course then you walk to one end make sure the cap is tightened then walk to the other side and do the same thing. I been here in houston the past week and a half doing exactly everything here for bulk orientation of course i am a new driver so a little bit of the things will be different if your experienced but not much of them.

    A balance beam?

From what I remember from seeing them in the gym in high school, they are only about 4 inches wide. How far off the floor is the beam set?

Well the PWS one is about the same and not high off at all, it's just to make sure u can balance but the cat walk on top of the tank is about 2 feet wide so u should be good
