Well did my 11 days in orientation and that was great now I been on the road with my TE for 2 days we have been 900 miles in those 2 days which isn't bad. We are doing a load from Crosby, Tx to Linden, Nj and so far it is a great experience, load is due Thursday the 10th. More to come as we progress.

I am looking to go into trucking and have a few questions since you are very new.

I know you are probably real busy but would be interested in how orientation went. Where it was, are you a new CDL holder ?
    What you are hauling ?
What is your pay now and once you go solo ?
Were there many people sent home during orientation and if so do you know why. I am 60 and wonder about the physical test. I think I will be fine but just want to know how things are now.

What type of trucks and transmissions, seems like I read they have no APU.
How much time do you spend loading and unloading and do you have to be outside or can you iy in the truck ?
How long will you be with your trainer ?

I have searched through a lot of the Schneider post here but would like info that is up to date from someone like you.

Thanks and hope it stays a great experience.

    hal380 Thanks this.

Well orientation went great all the instructors are really helpful, yeah I am a new cdl holder, we are hauling a oil adhesive right now, pay starts at about .35 cpm and right now during training is $80 a day, and I had heard some ppl got sent home during physical cause if ur heart rate gets over a certain point depending on age they stop cause means u will be close to a heart attack, right now my TE has a freightliner Columbia 10 speed no apu on this one. So far we have just loaded and we had to stay in the truck because the company we were at required it, they did the loading, for our unloading tomorrow we are going to be the ones unloading so have to stay outside with the unloading

    dennisroc and hal380 Thank this.

All of SNI's trucks are 10 speeds. No APUs though some of the dry van trucks have a battery powered HVAC unit. I haven't seen one on any of the bulk tractors. Bulk can idle whenever, unlike dry van tractors which have a temperature sensor. I haven't driven bulk for SNI so I don't know if they track your idling times or not. Unless its excessive I doubt it would be an issue, I see SNI bulk tractors idling all the time. Dry van tractors are probably 95% Freightliners with a few KWs and Internationals mixed in. All the bulk tractors that I have seen are Freightliners, ranging from Century-class to Columbias to Cascadias. Some of the bulk Cascadias are short hoods with the DD13. I'm pretty sure some have the DD15 as well.
