I'm presently a company driver, looking at switching to Choice program. I presently have all of my family's medical/dental/etc. insurance run thru me and I'm wondering if this is still available as an IC? I'm speaking specifically of having the "exact" same insurance that the company drivers have access to? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks.

Does Schneider provide insurance for the company drivers? Do they pay for it or is the cost greatly reduced? Checking companies that run out of STL so he can be home more. He is eventually going to go to school and I am trying to research the best or better companies for new drivers that want to get that first year under their belt. He and I think alike. If the company has good benefits and treats their drivers as good as the drivers treat them (some people never learn to act right) but they pay a few cents less per mile and he is home every week or two for 2-3 days, then it is SO worth it. I want him home safe. He is a strictly follow the rules guy. He has a spotless driving record except for the raccoon that ran in front of his car a couple of months ago. He lives in the sticks and it happens. He felt horrible. That is the kind of driver he is. He is happy with a 55 mph speed limit. Just wondering how Schneider treats their company drivers. I know a lot has to do with the attitude of the driver. He'd drive to Alaska if he was told to.

If it helps any, my medical insurance with True North costs $29.76 per week for the basic plan, and that's for a single individual. Don't know what the family rate is, but my insurance at my last company was $35 weekly, so it looks like the options with True North for ICs are comparable in cost to standard company insurance.

Yeah, the lady from True North said that none of their plans are currently compatible with Obamacare, but that the deadline for enrolling was extended to next year (funny how the government never bothered telling anyone THAT) but that all of their plans would be in line with Obamacare before the deadline next year.
Dogals right foot Thanks this.
