After following several threads here, talking to several dozen LP and O/O, and a couple of weeks crunching numbers. I will start orientation in Houston on Monday the 28th. I got to visit my new truck back on Wednesday the 23rd, and really liked what I saw.
Decided to go with a one year lease of a 2015 Cascadia to test the waters and see if Schneider and I are a good fit for one another. At the end of the year I can either turn it in and walk away, purchase it, or turn it in an lease another. Having previously been a O/O I have a very firm grasp of what I am walking into. Adding to that the information I have learned over the last month and change from Schneider ICs, seems like a worthy shot.

Dang, that's a lot of equipment you have to have for tanker... Just Kidding. I think you'll find SNI as a whole to be a good company. I know a couple tanker yankers on the company side and they seem mostly HAPPY well as happy as a truck driver can be. Good Luck and I wish you lots of success.
nightgunner Thanks this. -
Thanks I appreciate it! I did OTR tankers for Transport Service for a couple of years, actually looking forward to doing it again. Living only 30 miles from the Houston OC should make getting home and out again really easy for me.

How much is the one year lease costing you? And are you being paid % percentage or by the mile?
-
Awhile back someone on here said they had heard that Schneider was going to start a Choice program on the bulk side. Is that what you are on? Or mileage?
-
It is mileage based, according to recruiting they will offer the % Choice program on the tanker side starting sometime next Feb. Mileage pay of Bulk is $1.155+FSC all miles loaded and empty. Truck note and maintenance are higher than I like, but the payment is 100% tax deductible at the end of the year. Without looking at the emails, I believe the Note+Maintenance was $873 Week +/-. By signing on Monday I get $2k deposited into my Maintenance account from day one, and have Full factory warranty. The residual after the 52 week lease is about $116k of the original $145k price tag. Basically about 3.5% interest.
If my math is correct (it usually is), on an avg. of 2,500 miles/week, 7.0 MPG, after ALL deductions, I should have a weekly Adjusted Gross of about $1,400hal380, knuckledragger and harlycharly55 Thank this. -
That's the Houston OC, lol. I'll be there on Tuesday.
Congrats man, I hope you keep us updated on how it all goes.nightgunner Thanks this. -
If I'm looking at the pics right it comes with an APU? Or is that box have something to do with the tanker.
