I pulled a trailer to an HD once that was fine on pre-trip but when I got there the bar was bent pretty much like that one.... I have no idea how it happened during the drive.. Took it to the Fontana oc to get it fixed, since everybody knows you gotta slide the tandems at HD...

It's common to have bend handle on a chassis, but this is the worst one I ever seen.

I guarantee you that was done by a trailer shop. It was probably taken to a shop because some driver complained about not being able to lock the handle outward to slide the tandems, it probably kept popping in. The dead giveaway is all the rust - the paint is gone, from being heated by a torch to make those bends. If the notches in the handle weren't made just right from the factory it's pretty easy for the handle to pop back in when trying to slide the tandems, a little bit of a jerk and boom there it goes. Of course the easy fix is a pair of vice grips on the handle to prevent it from popping back, but that's too much effort for some drivers to put that much thought into it. So they simply say it's broken.

East fix for the repair shop would've been to weld a bead where the notch is or supposed to be and then they wouldn't of had to bend it. Of course as a driver just do as DFO says Vise Grip

Well I did laugh at the 'bag' reference because my step-brother who lives with me had one for a year after cancer, till they went back and re-connected his plumbing, and the odor when he empltied that thing was worse than rotten and seemed like it escaped by eating its way right through the closed bathroom door, I think vile is a good description and those things are no joke.

It helped me decide to put a ventilator fan and 30 minute timer in the bathroom, and then it was still bad so I gutted the ventilator box leaving only the 10x10 grille and mounted a 1/2 HP 1100CFM high volume blower with a 9" intake in the attic. did some custom plenum on that to adapt it and used a 10" HVAC flexible duct.. dang it, when the contactor goes 'clack' and that thing spools up you know you started a motor and all farts and vapors are gone in a few seconds!!

I hope that rig in the 1st post is an exception. Thank God most drivers are too conscientious to take a dangerous vehicle on the interstate.
