Well, made it to Red Roof Inn in Charlotte, NC. I am paying for 2 nights stay (Fri and Sat) to rest up, get my books and scanning up to date, and just have a little downtime before the orientation. Terminated lease contract with Swift, and I see they have already cancelled my log access and ceased all charges. Will take my truck over to Charlotte OC Maintenance department either later today or tomorrow.

Completed orientation in Charlotte, NC on Thursday, 7/17. Left Friday, 7/18 for home to do a re-start and will head to Lake Park, GA to pickup an empty trailer. Schneider paying good money to pickup empty trailer. Already booked five loads for next week that will net me just under $2,800 after fuel and deductions since I already had a full tank of fuel being deducted from this week settlement.

Congratulations for un-shackling the 'Company Driver' chains! Sounds like great numbers right out of the gate! Looking forward to hearing how things go with you.

It's been a great week so far. I made the mistake though of booking too many loads at once, as I got wrapped up in the moment with the ability to do so. Had two weeks assigned. One of the loads fell through causing the whole 2-weeks to crumble like dominoes, so I had the ICA void all the remaining (no penalty). Going to resign myself to only booking 2 to 3 loads at a time, and keep searching daily for the next good load. However, I am making more this first week than originally reported, as I was able to find a couple of better paying loads than original plan. Plan on working to route myself near home by August 8th, since my wife's birthday is on the 9th. Taking my 10-hr break in York, PA tonight at Diner 83 just off I-83 N. Great Food!!! The cost of the meal pays for your 10-hr break parking....I only had 10-minutes left when I picked up my load down the street. Really enjoyed my load this morning $583 revenue with 3-stops covering 160 total miles including deadhead, which equates to $3.64/mile. Easy work just running up the NJTP.

Well, left the Jersey area on 7/27, headed up to Saco, ME to unload. Then up to Skowhegan, ME for a heavy of load of paper rolls to get me out of ME, which I took to Saratoga Springs, NY. Now, sitting for my 10-hr break in Hatfield, MA at Whaley's Truckstop off I-91 exit 24. Good food at the diner. Will pickup the pre-loaded trailer (pallets) in the morning and head to Alburtis, PA to drop it by mid-day if all goes well. Then picking up another load headed down to Midway, TN. Love this booking my own loads and controlling where I go, which means I will not head back to ME, NH, VT, MA anytime real soon. Loads in ME coming out are too heavy, and I made the mistake of following Navigo cutting across NH, VT to NY on SR 202, 9, 7....those hills were murder on my little 435 hp ISX Cummins with a paper load pushing too close to 80k. First time ever, missed a gear climbing a hill and came to an abrupt stop. Ended creeping up that hill in 4th gear....fortunately there was a truck lane and traffic was real light. Going to try to stay in the south (as much as possible), at least no further west than TX and no further east than NY (upstate, no NY City or or SE NY). And I like the daily market map showing where Schneider is booking freight....really helps.

Back in my birth state of Georgia heading to Cullman, AL, then up to Lewisburg, TN to Conley, GA, Atlanta to Macclenny, FL, and to the house for 5-days. Really enjoying this Choice Board...booking my own freight....paying better than Swift did and I know where I am going.
