There isn't anything else in West Branch but P&G and a farm implement place. I make more out of it than I should. It isn't the faulty itself but some of the people that work there. The first time we were yelled at for going over 5 mph then five minutes later we watched a yard dog run over a trailer stand at about 20 mph. They were racing all over the lot.

You have to weigh out before you leave and then pay cash for the weigh ticket. They could tell we were there for the first time and treated me like an idiot. Figured the second time that it would be different since we knew their procedures. I was wrong and the same guy treated me like an idiot again. Understand that my previous job I was responsible for over 400 Soldiers preparing them for combat. I don't take being disrespected too well. My son tells me to just stay in the truck sometimes because I have no issue going off on people. This is also another reason I took the job as a truck driver. I don't play nicely with others anymore. Just don't have the patience for those that think they are entitled or those that disrespect others.

    Thanks!

TennMan and wannabe trckin again Thank this.

Only drove 134 miles yesterday. Than everything crashes. I wait 4 hours for Workflow to come back up. New load from Woodburn to Fresno gets cancelled when I get there. After 45 minutes on hold with C/S, they tell me to call back in the morning to figure it out. Spend the night at the Brooks T/S.

New assignment from Albany to San Diego. 1093 miles. 45K of pallets. Nice.

Last week I ended up with 2803 miles.

I'm playing the "Chase the trailer game" right now in PA. The place I dropped had a ton of trailers that they use to store cardboard and pallets. Nice huh? Next I went to Nestle and of course they don't have any.....waiting again! This doesn't hurt the company this just hurts the driver.

The same way in Sumner. 6-8 brand new trailers with about 20 empty pallets in each of them. Just sitting there, so the driver has to go chase one down another trailer some place else. One trailer had a pallet of canned food in it for a food bank.

Drove 421 miles to Corning CA. Don't have to be in San Diego until tomorrow at 11:00. Just what I want, LA traffic on a Friday afternoon.

The last 4 times I have stopped at this Love's T/S, in the drivers lounge is the same guy sleeping in the same stop with his duffle bag.

Drove 416 today. Stopped at Frazier Mt. (Lebec) for the night. Didn't want to fight LA afternoon traffic. Will start early tomorrow to beat traffic.

New pre asignment has me D/H 101 miles to Moreno Valley and delivering the load 476 miles in Sparks NV. A nice 577 miles trip. Going to try to stop in Bishop CA at Holy Smokes BBQ. Stopped there last time there. Good BBQ. Have to park at Von's and walk about 4-5 blocks since no truck parking nearby.

Seems like you're getting a steady flow of miles. I'm looking at trying to do tanker at Schneider after I get my CDL/ endorsements etc.

Where are you INEEDAJOB? They may want to start you in Van unless you are in a place that has a strong tanker need. Recommend you get all endorsements because it makes you more marketable and just about every place requires HAZMAT anyways not because you haul HAZMAT but because it shows you had a background check.

The success or failure of a truck driver is dependent on the individual. If you hustle you can make decent money even starting out. Softail is doing a great job as a solo and my son and I are killing it as a team.

If you are near inter model than that may be a good place to start. If you are no where's near tanker or inter model than Van is probably your best bet. Either way commit to a year and then look at other options. Once you have 6 months to a year other companies want you because you have experience.

    Good Luck!

Have to agree with warhippy. You make it what you want. If you want to sit in a truck stop all day, you can. If you want to stay busy, SNI Wil keep you busy. Keep that left door closed.

Drove 399 miles today. Ended up at Fontana OC. Got here with 2 minutes left on my 14. Made delivery in San Diego right at the border. That was interesting. They unloaded us and loaded the particle board onto flatbeds trucks from Mexico. I don't know how those trucks pass any inspection. Wink, wink by the CHP. I get there and tell the woman that I have a 11:00 appointment. She tells me, it is now a 14:00 appointment. WTF. So, I sit for 3 1/2 hours.

After unloaded, I D/H to Moreno Valley. Picked up my D/H. Tomorrow I headed to Sparks.

I'm in Charleston, SC. They have tanker jobs listed in Charleston ,but I'm assuming that's out of the terminal in Savannah. Seems like they have some openings and I think that's what I'm going to shoot for. I'm still a couple months out from getting my CDL/endorsements and I'm trying to read read read talk read talk read read read all I can to learn everything I can about the business. Schneider has come up quite a few times from talking to people about being a great place start out as a tanker driver. Obviously I'm going to keep my options open to anything. (beggers can't be choosers)

Everything I have heard about SNI tanker division has been good. Get all your endorsements. Makes life easier. I would have gone tanker, if SNI offered it in the NW. Oh well.

Only got to drive 416 miles today. They have 395/580 shut down outside Reno to trucks, buses, and RV's due to high winds. I have been dealing with high winds since I left Bishop CA. I could only drive 40-45 MPH. Lucky, I am at 44K, otherwise it may have been a lot different. Conway Summit at 8143' was a blast. Literally. When I got to Bridgeport CA, I had some tumbleweed that wanted to race. It wasn't even close. It beat me. Even just sitting here, the tractor is rocking with the wind. Hope it dies down soon. I still have 63 miles to go tomorrow.
