We'll still sitting at the OC. As I was ready to call it a night, the mechanic comes over and says that he has to do a regen on the truck. After about 20 minutes, I says that the truck is not reaching the correct temperature for DEF. Needs to be 1100*. Only getting to 1020*. Parts need to be ordered in the morning. So off to a hotel for the night. Got here this morning and talked with another mechanic and he said about 3 hours for repair. We will see. Was suppose to be home for the weekend.

Never made it to Tennessee. I saw the board also and didn't see an issue but it's worked in our favor anyways.

Our assignments have been good....short for team (500-850) but good. Laredo to Dallas, pick up relay headed for a P&G plant outside Cape Giraredeau...back to West Memphis and now headed to Oshkosh Wisconsin. So far we are on a 1000 mile a day average which is just fine. I listened in on a conference call for all the teams. I figured out the issues we had were a lot worse than what they were whining about. "I was detained four hours at a shipper today...Do I get detainment pay for that?" Four hours?? That's not that bad when you look at it. What I focus on is the big picture. What are the miles for the week? Did I need those detainment hours waiting for a later run that I'm short on hours? I try and take a deep breath and roll with the flow. I didn't get into this job to be stressed out over small stuff.

Tomorrow's a live unload which means 2-3 hours of waiting and that's good. The way my son and I work is I am doing stuff for 12-14 hours a day and have actually ran out of my 14 several times. I can knock out 500-550 miles, deliver the loads, handle paperwork and prep the truck for his shift. He wakes, does pre-trip on his time and drives. He knocks out 600 miles a night no problem and is usually and is usually sitting outside the reciever when I take over. It ain't perfect but it works for us.

    Sorry about the truck Softail!

Finally, get a pre assignment on Wednesday at 16:00 out of Ogden. Truck was done at 13:00. Called DBL a couple times looking for assignment. Go to Ogden, to a salt plant (of course). Get there and and they tell me they don't have a load for me. Get on the phone with C/S. Find out the load was ready for pick up between 13:00-16:00. So load was cancelled. Guess what I was doing during this time. Nothing, but burning my 14. So the issued a new pick up number. Now I have to wait till 9:00PM, since I was late. Nice 3 hour wait. Load going to Riverside CA. 788 miles.

Get loading drive 2 hours till 11:00 PM. Get up at 10:00AM to drive the last 530 miles. Get to Riverside at at 9:30PM. Appoint at 04:00AM. Park outside the gate, since my 10 hour break isn't over till 07:45. Takes a hour to get to gate with all the other trucks in line. Get to guard shack and informed I don' t have a appointment. Really. Call C/S. Since it's to early for anybody to get any answers, I wait 3 hours, and finally get a message on work flow.

New appointment for Sat 8/30 at 05:00. Send DBL message to let me relay load at Fontana since a just got a pre assignment from Fontana to Albany OR. 958 miles.

Left Fontana at 11:00 after playing with trailers. Made it to Lodi and calling it a night.

This seems to be the norm on the weekends and it's beginning to really irritate us. My load was going from SC to Joliet, Ill. Since it's a holiday weekend I asked if the receiver would be open on the weekend. They said no not until tuesday. Problem defeated before it began!!! Relayed to Indianapolis and it showed us arriving 65 minutes late. This is twice this has happened where we didn't touch the ETA and it showed us late.

Anyhow not a bad week. Didn't hit our mark of 7000 miles but did get 6500 for the week. Headed back to South Carolina with a Target run.

I don't understand all the issues you're having but keep a note of which runs and what the situation was and send an email to your DBL's boss. They will look up the assignment history and see what the issue was. May not solve your problem but may prevent it in the future. The higher up's have no idea there is an issue at all so if nothing is said it will keep happening.

I have been having issues where the workflow appointment doesn't match what the customer (sometimes both shipper and receiver) has for an appt. Starting to look like an issue. I had a 2 stop drop near Denver that had my fixed appts. 24 hours later than the customer expected. One stop took me, the other didn't.

Got one of Greg's beer runs to SLC. The pickup was 0200. Had to wait almost a full day for the appt. They told me they were behind loading 60 to 70 trailers so that I would likely have to wait, but that I still needed to make the appt. Got there on time. They said probably a 6 to 7 hour wait. Not cool. Then the guard offers to change to a live load so it shouldn't take as long. OK. Just after I park in the waiting lot, a yard driver knocks on my door with a door assignment. I end up getting out of there 2.5 hours after I arrived. Not bad.

I wonder what the rest of the weekend will be like.

Made it to my appointment a hour early in Albany. WAIT, they were actually expecting me and I had an appointment scheduled. It's going to be a good day. Did a D/H. Headed to next assignment 29 miles away in Lebanon OR. Did a another D/H. Headed to Puyallup WA for D/H. 245 miles. They want it there 2:30 PM. Should be no problem getting it there on time.

Taking 3 days TAH. This will be my only TAH for the month of September. At the beginning of Oct., My son is getting married, so I will take off a week to get ready for that. Luckily, my wife is very organized, and is taking care of all the details with our new DIL family. I will just have to show up on time.
