Well started on Tues. Met with my DBL which has been awesome so far with keeping me moving and answering any questions that i have had. Got my truck which is a 2012 columbia that had 320k on it. Looks to be taken care of but with all the Chez Obetz finest on the outside it still looks good. started out with a run from OH to NJ. was worried with the trip after hearing all of DFO's stories about being held hostage in the north east. well i hate to say it but my first day did not go to well. pulling into the stop for the night i had my first accident and hoping it is the only. as i was pulling in i mis judged the distance and cliped the front end of another truck with the trailer. i have to admit it was my fault but if he would have been in a legit parking spot and not 3 spots from the last actual spot i'd been clear. oh well whats done is done ive learned from it and it's all i can do is learn. so with that delay with having to deal with all the reports and contacting claims i started my next day later then planned. still made delivery on time so all was well. My next delivery had me returning to OH which was shocking to say the least. with that it had me running vampire shift which i have to say other then trying to sleep during the day with the heat i actually like it cause when i shut down there is plenty of parking and while im driving there is little to no traffic. well made the delivery Fri morning and picked up a relay a few miles away heading back to the Chez Obetz resort. when i gt back i had to do some cossroads training and waas supposed to do some training with the OSR but since i had no hours and was do for home time it had to wait till Tues since i have an assignment Mon morning. well so far i am well pleased with my decision with Schneider and happy with the truck so we will see what the future brings. until the next update you all stay safe out there.
The journey begins

"Vampire shift," nice. Good luck in the future. Your only error - you weren't careful enough in a tight spot, easy to fix. Just be more careful. I'm glad it wasn't my truck you clipped. Remember this - you're supposed to not hit the other trucks, no matter where you find them.

You need to always drive in truck stops in first gear only,,stop and look and be extra careful with every move. Make your turns as wide as you can all the time every where. Never back up with out getting out and look..Never hurry or get rushed. Hope it was a big fleet truck you hit and not an owner operator,,if it was an owner operator you just screwed him big time,,Big fleets will not pay down time to small fleets or single truck owners,,When you park at a truckstop always look for the easiest place to park. Never blind side backing unless there is not other way,,If you have to blind side get an other driver to assist you and if you have to back up 1 foot at a time and get out and look after each foot and it takes you 2 hours to complete that is what you do , No excuses buddy,,Just think what if you had hit a driver? You are on our watch list, PLEASE BE CARE A SIMPLE ACCIDENT IN A TRUCK STOP CAN OUT SOMEONE ELSE IN A HOSPITAL OR OUT THEM OUT OF BUSINESS. PLEASE BE CAREFULL

Well came in this morning to find out my truck won't start. Nothing was left on and nothing was plugged in so idk what happened. Anyway picked up my relay and made the delivery to come back and get another relay. They wanted to keep me close today since I have the training with the OSR tomorrow. Anyway not too bad just means I get to go home tonight. Waiting on my last relay to be unloaded and then I'm heading to the resort. With these relays it has given me more practice with my back and I can say it's getting better. Not saying it's amazing by no means cause I do still use pull ups but I have gotten better. Well until next time you all stay safe out there.

Another situation that reminds me of the accident that you had is pulling out of rest areas. In some of the older, smaller rest areas, it can be very easy to run into the truck next to you with your trailer when pulling out, especially if they pulled forward too far in their spot. Watch for that carefully and if you lose sight of what the trailer is doing, hop out and take a look. -
To the rookies, this is terrible advice. First it's just rude as you can literally walk faster than 1st gear. Second, if you can't handle a truck stop faster than 1st then you need to not drive. Third, it's a great way to get your truck jacked with, ask me how I know.harlycharly55 Thanks this. -

yeah I stay in first gear, if you don't like it tough,,,3,000,000 accident free miles,,you make you time on the road not in truckstops, It's all about being safe in a congested mostly poorly lit parking lot..it's not about how fast you can go, it's about getting your load delivered safely ,you want to go fast see if you can keep up with on long grades in the mountains or when I hit 99mph and have 2 more gears to go. I guess if you are driving a truck choked down to 65 on the highway maybe you are looking for excitement or trying to impress the other brain dead ########## in the truckstop,,
