Knotts Berry Farm, all they had was a train, panning for gold flakes, fried chicken and pies!

    Ahhhhhh ------
    Not so amigo.
You left out Boysenberry juice and pie by name.
Walter Knott grafted two different berries together to come up with the Boysenberry. For that, he's my hero. You also left out the haunted shack, the stagecoach ride, the covered wagons circled around a stage with a bonfire and good entertainment. Across Beach Blvd there was the lagoon, a miniature train that circled the lagoon, complete with a tunnel which was a great place to make out with the chicks we met there weekend nights, and a replica of Independence Hall, ...... oh! and row boats to rent, and feed the ducks.
Back on the other side of Beach Blvd, the road to Hunington Beach, there was a blacksmith demonstrating the craft as well as a glass blower at work, a chapel where folks could get married, and Old McDonald's Farm, with a pool of seals to feed fish to out front. There's even a theater --- used to be called the John Wayne Theater, but it was changed when the kids took over, --- along with an admission charge and pretty cool rides. Special events like Knott's Scary Farm on Halloween, where everyone wore costumes.

They still pan for gold, only now it's the gold contained within wallets. But still a nice place to visit if you're in Buena Park.

Back in the day, there was an alligator farm across the street from Knott's. It disappeared a long time ago.

So on this load for Portland I made it to Amarillo the first night, had to drive through that snow/ice storm leaving Amarillo but still made it to Laramie, Wy that night, fuel gage still showing just under 1/2 tank when I stopped for the night. Next morning I leave a about 5am decided I go to the next truckstop for fuel(about 100mi) well 50mi down the road the truck dies! Apparently my fuel gage froze! Tanks completely empty and it's -19 below zero! Lose 6hrs freezing and getting towed! Weird part is I only drove 550mi and tanks were EMPTY, I put 120 gallons in so I know the fuel didn't gel! I usually get better than 800mi easy! Never going to trust that gage again in cold weather! Now I'm in Portland at the OC waiting on a load out of here!

Still just pluggin along, making miles and saving my money for a good used truck to go IC either with Schneider since I know the system or maybe QC or? Somewhere to make better $$$$!!! It has been a very good learning experience at Schneider Bulk! Only real complaint is the recruiter didn't shoot straight on a few things I should have got them in writing! My sign on bonus was only $1000, I was told $2500, and the school reimbursment is at $150 a month! that will take 2 yrs! I'm not going to wait that long I'll just eat it!

Been goimg good until today they sent me to Coraopolis with the empty instead of back to Keasbey, and here I sit, 14 is about done only got 200 miles today and 300 yesterday! But the New WORKFLOW is going to keep us running blah blah blah! Since it started I have only had 1 pre-assigned load. Upside is still saving for my OWN truck!

Great updates..with all this miles, what is your weekly pay check? are you paid weekly or bi? where do you take your showers, i hear some of the bath rooms are pretty bad at the truck stops. Also, did you share the cab with your trainer on your first run?

    thanks again

The van operations manager at Gary OC recently switched over to bulk operations manager within the past 3-4 months or so. It's starting to make sense now since he's already familiar with workflow and probably switched over to manage the change over. Workflow isn't the problem, it's that operations doesn't know what they are doing on that system yet. It's actually much better than the old source system
