The process: I'm not sure if there is a typical way the recruiting process goes. I will tell you, not to burn bridges assuming you got a job with SNI because you applied. In general practice burning bridges is bad. The trucking industry seems real big sometimes, but I assure you if you burn a bridge it will become much smaller. Anyhoot....
My first call was to my ex wive's uncle. He is a recruiter, and kind of filled in answers to the big questions I had. I then got passed to another recruiter, I found out that these recruiters work in regions? Anyways, the recruiter I got passed to was on vacation. I would say probably 4 days elapsed between talking with the first recruiter, and talking to Jessica Knutzen who ended up becoming my recruiter. She said that my initial application was good, to look for a 3 year history form to fill out. I filled it out ASAP and got it back. Somewhere around this step in the process SFI started calling me and talking about lease options. Jennifer was very helpful on that end.
Repetition/bureaucracy : There will be lots of this. Go with it, don't fight it. Understand that you're going to fill out an application that throughly covers the last 10 years. If that application is up to snuff, you will be sent a 3 year history form that asks the same questions the 10 year history form did. We live in a world where everything is about liability. If a large carrier doesn't aggressively check your history, they open themselves up to huge lawsuits should you ever have an accident. If you make it past these steps, you may get the pleasure of a 45 minute phone interview that covers all of this again. Remember that these people are working with you over the phone for a few minutes at a time, your attitude about the process over the phone goes a long way.
Dont lie: The process is thorough. If you lie, they will absolutely find out. The report they get is so detailed it knows what your g.p.a was in truck driving school. Your mistakes may or MAY NOT be disqualifying factors. Being caught in a lie will almost DEFINITELY disqualify you.
Summary for those who hate reading too much: The process is approximately 1-2 weeks of phone tag and filling out paperwork. This gets you to the conditional hire status where I am at right now. Drug test/physical to come then orientation. I don't do drugs so I'm not worries about that, I will fill you guys in on orientation when I get there. (9/22) In the mean time I will just fill in if anything interesting happens between now and then.

I make enough to have money in my business account and pay it from there. No reason to let them get interest on your money.
