So, Monday begins orientation. Schneider got me my rental car, and got me down here to the carolinas. I still have to figure out who I'm going to use for internet service.... I know my phone can be used as a hot spot if I pay extra. Does anybody know if there is any difference in the quality of service between using your phone as a hotspot vs using a broadband card or a mobile hotspot?

I use Verizon and the service is great. 2 things though, with a 5g data plan, it runs about $120 a month. Second thing is, 5g ain't much to work with. If you confine your activities to the internet, you'll have more than enough. But, 5g's won't be nearly enough to watch a bunch of movies and stuff.

But, the speed is excellent, and the coverage area is unrivaled. Also, you can get a free hot spot app on either FoxFy or Google (depending on how old your device is.......new droids won't do FoxFi, but there is a free app in the google play store.......so, don't pay extra for Verizon's wifi....you don't need it.

I have a Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE with 10gb of data a month. Works great and it costs about $80/month. IMO it is worth every penny.

Most new Androids and iPhones have the hotspot feature free on Verizon anyway, why would you need an app?

Sprint tried to do that to me. So I rooted my phone and they can kiss my ***. I use Cyanogenmod on my Galaxy S3. Works great. But also voids your warranty in most cases. But I have unlimited data and free tethering and have had no issues for over a year.

Dieselfuelonly: Do any of Schneider's contract trucks come with an APU or is it an option?

A former employee of mine drove for Schneider for 6 years and loved it; he only left to get into aviation. I never really considered Schneider before that and have been looking at their Choice program, but for me, having an APU is mandatory. I hate idling.
