For the choice O/O's, I know you can "route yourself" but if you do so, can you route yourself to stay in a specific region and still make decent? For example, let's say I became a O/O with the choice program and I wanted to stay in CA, NV, UT, AZ, NM and maybe Texas. Would you be able to route yourself around those areas and still make well enough to make your truck payments, set aside for expenses and pocket enough to live properly on? Also, is Los Angeles a good area to be a choice O/O out of? Furthermore, what kind of home time can you expect? Can you go out for 5 days or so and follow it up with a couple of days off or do you need to stay out longer? All these are bearing in mind you own your own truck and lease on with Schneider Choice.

Thank you kindly for any advice on the matter.

On the West Coast it will be very difficult to only run 5 days then take a couple days off if you have a Truck payment.

You can run anywhere in the lower 48... Home time is up to you. I took 3 weeks off and never got a phone call. There is to many variables on how much you can make.

So could I actually make good just sticking to the few states of my choice? I see two very different responses about home time. I am sure they are both correct, but would still like more info and further details from you two and anyone else that can shed insight on this subject.

Not that it matters, but I just feel at home in the desert. I feel comfortable, I feel like I'm in my environment. I know it might sound odd but I'm use to this region, it makes me feel good and I guess if you feel good at work, it makes working harder a little easier.

west cost for really any company sucks. Loads are so cheap and saturated over here makes it #### near impossible to get the prices up without getting out of the drybox side of things.

I do know reefer loads pay darn well over here but thats a whole nother bag of fun

I lived in Southern California (LA) on Choice for four months. I made great money ($1800 + per week) leaving the West and running the East for 3 weeks at a time. There are other drivers on here that live in the West and head East also. CAN you make a living only staying in the West? Probably. How much that is would be anybody's guess, every situation is so different. But it will be extremely difficult to consistently make great money, come home every 5 days, and stay in the west.

What if it's not "Great" but just "Good" ? Enough to cover your expenses and have a bit left for yourself, would that work? What if you stayed out longer at a time, but still just stayed in the southwest? Thanks for the reply.

It's very hard to give you an exact answer because what is good to you may be great to me or terrible to me when it comes to covering your expenses. there's a member on here who I personally know who live in Nevada and when he stays west he struggles. When he runs Midwest and east he does good. I run the NE and south and I usually do great for me. I can bring home around 2k any week I choose normally and I still get home weekly. If you live near Fontana you'll be able to find freight in and out of there but I don't think it'll be 5 days working and couple days off. If you do this their are sacrifices that all business owners make to succeed. Do not go into this thinking it's easier than being a company driver because it's not, It is more rewarding and the advantages in my opinion outweigh the bad but it is a business not a job.

    DD ..

Schneider don't care how long you stay out or stay at home just as long as you make enough to pay your overhead . your profit at that point is up to you as to if you want to stay out or go home .. That's the beauty of this program
